 GM Series Piston Rod and Slide Valve Selection
An improved piston rod was introduced in 2005. The new rod is a larger diameter and the o-ring groove is
moved to the end of the rod. The new design is labeled Design “B”. Improvements were made to the old
design also (for retrofits) and is labeled Design “A”. Design “A” has a standard diameter rod, but is made
of stronger material. The o-ring groove is relocated similar to Design “B”. Refer to the chart below for the
correct part number. You will need to know the serial number on the compressor nameplate.

Note: Compressor manufactured prior to 2003 may not have an o-ring on the piston rod. For these models
use design “A”. The o-ring is an improvement and was added to enhance internal dampening
characteristics.
