Important Guidelines:
- Each assignment must be done in a group of size at most three.
- Handwritten submissions will not be accepted. Solutions must be typed-up (in Microsoft
Word, etc.) and submitted in pdf format.
- Cheating of any form will lead to strict penalty.

Answer the following questions accordingly

1. Give an example of a system from your surroundings. These examples must be


used to explain the following:
i. Identify all elements of that system and explain how they work together for
attainment of its set goals.
ii. Explain functions performed or carried out by each element of the system.
2. Discuss how different types of information technologies support the operations
of business organizations and enable their competitiveness in different industries.
3. Critically assess how new digital technologies are creating opportunities and
threats for the established firms and new start-ups.
4. What is the role of MIS in modern Business?
5. Suppose one of your friend want to develop career in MIS. What skills and
personal qualities do you think he/she needs to build such a career in MIS?
6. What is data? How is it different from information? With the help of suitable
example prove that “every information is a processed data but reverse is not
true”.
