Christmas Decorations!
Many people believe that getting ready for Christmas is even more fun than Christmas Day!
Decorating the Christmas tree is just one part of the tradition. Christmas decorations can go
everywhere in the house, and outside too!

The fireplace is the perfect place to put candles and hang stockings. Big presents go under the tree.
Small presents go inside stockings. These are called “stocking stuffers”. Stocking stuffers can be
anything like candy canes, gift cards, or even small toys.

There are many types of outdoor Christmas decorations. Many people decorate the front of their
houses with garland and lights. There are even competitions to choose the best Christmas
decorations. Driving through town to look at all the pretty houses can be a tradition on its own!

Christmas Eve!
Christmas Eve is the day before Christmas. Many people and families have their own traditions that
they do on Christmas Eve. It is almost like another holiday all on its own.

Christmas Eve is a great opportunity for large families to get together and exchange presents. Some
people decorate the Christmas tree weeks before Christmas, while others wait until Christmas Eve.
It is a good idea to start preparing for Christmas dinner on Christmas Eve so you have less work to
do the next day!

Christmas Eve is also very special for children, because it is when Santa arrives. Many children will
try to stay awake to see Santa putting presents under the Christmas tree. Sometimes they are just
too excited to sleep!
