M01-Arabic & English Communications
Ministry of Labor and Skills wishes to extend thanks and appreciation to the many
representatives of TVET instructors, TTI and Ethiopian Overseas Employment Agencies
Federation (EOEAF) who donated their time and expertise to the development of this Short Term
Teaching, Training and Learning Materials (TTLM) of Basic Communicative Skills to Domestic
Work Setting Module.
This learning guide is developed to provide you the necessary information regarding the
following topics:-
Introducing Oneself;
Greeting and Farewell;
Telephoning; and
Lexical Items (Vocabulary).
This guide will also assist you to attain the learning outcomes stated here under.
Specifically, upon completion of this learning guide that you will be able to:-
introduce themselves in Arabic language about their personal details;
greet people in Arabic language politely;
exchange information using telephone conversation; and
use self-introductory, greeting and telephoning terminologies.
During workers arrival, you can use the following expressions when you meet with your
employer.
A. (Aselamualaykum) /አሰላሙዐለይኩም / السالم عليكم
May peace be upon you /ሰላም ባንቺ ላይ ይሁን
B. Wealaykum selam /ወዐለይኩም አሰላም وعليكم/ السالم
