Subject: Increase of air pollution in East Hyderabad

Sir/Madam,
I am Drishya, a member of NGO Prada. I am writing to you to bring to your notice
the increasing effect of air pollution in our neighbourhood and in the
surrounding area.
East Hyderabad has seen a rapid increase in the use of private transportation
and the number of industrial sectors that have come up in recent years. This has
increased the risks of serious health hazards, including breathing difficulties,
chronic diseases, lung damage, nausea, fatigue, etc. The hospitals around the
area have already seen an unexpected rise in the number of patients showing
symptoms of chronic illness, and it is important that people and government
authorities are made aware of this dangerous situation at the earliest.
Owing to the seriousness of this situation, I request you to kindly highlight the
issue so that some action can be taken to curb the effect of air pollution and
decrease the risk of people being affected by it.

Thanking you

Subject: Open manholes on R S Road

Sir/Madam,
I am Rathina Sabapathy, a resident of VKL Avenue. I am writing to throw some
light on the issue of open manholes in our area.
It has been more than a period of 6 months now since these manholes were
opened, and there have been multiple accidents due to this. We have
approached the local authorities and associations in this regard, but no action
has been taken so far, and it is becoming a matter of great worry. There are
children who walk to school every day, and there are a lot of working people
taking this route as it is a road that connects the main road to the Electronic City
area where most of the IT companies are located.
Kindly consider this issue and highlight it in your newspaper so that the
authorities are alerted about the need to look into this situation as soon as
possible in order to reduce the number of casualties.

Subject: Conduction of offline examinations amidst the increasing covid rates

Sir/Madam,
I am Dhivya Dharshini, a member of the Parent-Teacher Association. I am writing
in order to emphasize the decision to conduct offline examinations in schools
and colleges when there is a huge increase in the number of COVID cases.
It is a matter of great concern that the disease is spreading sooner than ever in
the past two years of the pandemic, and it is not safe for us to let our children
travel to their respective schools and colleges to take up examinations in this
situation. We have tried to discuss the issue with the authorities of the academic
institutions, but no action or decision has been taken so far. It is the need of the
hour to take utmost care and abstain from making any sort of physical contact
with anyone in order to keep ourselves safe and healthy.
I request you to kindly understand the seriousness of this issue and highlight it
in your newspaper so that the academic institutions consider conducting online

Subject: Frequent breakdown of electricity

Sir/Madam,
I am Dakshith Bala, a resident of S G Palaya. I have been living along with my
family in S G Palaya for more than ten years now, and we have not faced much
problems with electric supply in our area. Recently, we have been experiencing
frequent breakdown of electricity for more than eight to nine hours.
These frequent breakdowns of electricity are affecting the day-to-day activities
to a great extent. The residents of the area have been undergoing a lot of
inconveniences due to this. No work goes as planned because we are not aware
when we would have power supply and when we would not. There are
continuous fluctuations in voltage which is also causing trouble by ruining the
working condition of the electronic devices that are of regular use. School going
children, working individuals, women and old people are affected by this
situation.
It is necessary that the authorities of the Electricity Board take some
responsibility to install powerful transformers and streamline the power supply.
It would be of great help and relief to all the residents if you could highlight the
situation in a column of your esteemed newspaper. We believe that this will get
the attention of the authorities and some action would be taken at the earliest
to relieve us of the difficulties we are facing due to the frequent breakdown of
electricity.

Thanking you
Yours sincerely,
Dakshith Bala

Subject: Dirty neighbourhood even after complaining

Sir/Madam
I’m Manish Kumar, a resident of wave City, Ghaziabad. I’m writing this letter to
highlight the issue of the dirty neighbourhood.
It has been more than 3 months; our neighbourhood is dirty and all the residents
are frustrated about the issue. We approached the municipality office but not
even a single worker showed up in the last 3 months.
The main reason for this is the slum areas just behind the building. They do not
dispose of the waste products and garbage. They through it anywhere and it
makes our building dirty from the past few months, it has been piled up and
created a big mess.
I would like to request you to highlight this issue in your well-known newspaper
column. People should be made aware of waste management and the
municipality should work in our favour.

I’ll be grateful to you if you consider this issue and highlight it so that the
respected authorities can look into the matter.

Thanking you

Yours sincerely

Subject: Need for people to join in a river cleaning rally.

Sir/Madam
Through the columns of your reputed newspaper, I would like to make people
aware of the present-day issue near the campus of the Netaji Subhash University
of Kolkata. The river near the campus is polluted by the locals and it is difficult
for the animals to drink water from it.
People use the water to do their daily chores but since it is filled with plastic
bottles, wrappers, and bags, they are not able to take water. The locals come to
visit the river during the evening and sit beside the river to enjoy some time, but
most of the people come and through some plastic items which flow into the
river.
As a professor of a well-known institute, I don’t want my students to get such a
wrong message. Therefore, I decided to arrange a rally with a few of my
colleagues to make people aware of the issue and clean up the river by
ourselves. The university students are ready to participate in the rally, but not
only the students we want others also to participate so that it will be more
impactful.
Hence, I will be thankful to you if you highlight this issue in your newspaper so
that people get to know about the issue and join hands with us.

Thanking you

Yours sincerely

7. To reduce noise pollution in your area, write a letter to the editor of a local
newspaper describing the problem and making a request to the concerned
authorities to solve it.

Subject: Need to harness noise pollution

Sir/Madam
Through the columns of your esteemed newspaper, I want to draw the attention
of the concerned authorities to the noise pollution caused by people.
The noise caused by marriage processes, DJ during wedding receptions, loud
music from religious congregations and other gatherings are all harmful for us.
It is especially harmful for the older generation and also the students preparing
for their final examinations.
The municipal and other concerned authorities are giving permissions for
various functions. So, the law enforcing authorities, i.e., the police, must act in
unison to ensure that the volume of such noise remains within reasonable limits.
Similarly, these noises must stop at night too. People who break the rules must
be fined heavily to deter them in future.
Above all, I hope the authorities concerned will read this letter and take the
required action to reduce the noise pollution in the City.

Thanking you

Yours sincerely,
Aditi

Subject: Frequent power cuts in V.I.P. Road, Guwahati.

Sir/Madam
Through the columns of your esteemed daily, I want to draw the attention of the
authorities of Guwahati about frequent power cuts in our locality.
It is barely for 3 hours during the day that the residents have uninterrupted
power supply. Frequent and long power cuts 3-4 times a day leave most homes
in darkness in the evening. Recently there have been cases of voltage
fluctuations resulting in damage to electrical appliances. Subsequently, they also
charge the full amount in the electricity bill.
In conclusion, it is suggested that the ASEB should provide us with connections
from the new power house which is hardly 200 metres away from this colony.

Thanking you

Yours sincerely,
Nisha

Subject: Rash driving by bus drivers

Sir/Madam
Through the columns of your esteemed newspaper, I want to draw the attention
of the concerned authorities to the rash driving by the bus drivers, which puts a
risk on thousands of people’s lives.
It is high time to take proper steps to stop the incidents of rash driving that we
observe in the city every day. I am a regular traveller from Noida to Delhi by bus.
I have been witnessing these rash driving by the bus drivers almost daily.
These reckless drivers carelessly put lives of many people at risk on a daily basis.
They break all kinds of traffic rules, do not adhere to speed limits, do not care
about traffic lights, etc. The DTC needs to take immediate action against these
drivers. Despite repeated requests and warnings by various passengers, these
drivers have turned a deaf ear to the passengers’ requests. These kinds of drivers
should be issued a very serious warning. If they still do not listen, these drivers
should be cancelled.
I hope you will publish my letter in your esteemed newspaper so that this matter
is brought to the attention of the concerned authority.

Thank you.

Yours sincerely,
Pritam

Subject: Book fair in Durgapur

Sir/Madam
Through the columns of your esteemed newspaper, I want to express my
feelings about the book fair that took place in Maidan, Kolkata. I want to
encourage people to go and enjoy the sight with their own eyes next time.
The International Kolkata Book Fair that took place in Maidan, Kolkata recently
was very wonderful. It was amazing to see so many books at display on a variety
of subjects. Different publishers, including some foreign publishers, had set up
their stalls. A variety of books on diverse subjects were available at heavy
discounts. A large crowd visited the book fair and publishers were encouraging
people to buy their books.
It was really a pleasure to see people’s enthusiasm to buy books. These days
there is a craze for eBooks, still people buying books which they can read sitting
anywhere in the house is amazing. It shows that books still hold relevance and
importance.
Books are better because they give you a sense of being real and still escaping
to a different world as you study it. eBooks on the other hand do not feel or give
us the joy that real books give Thus, modern technology and the internet cannot
stop people from buying books.

Thanking you

Yours sincerely,
Pooja
