1 SCOPE

This specification covers minimum 「equirement of produce concrete, production, quality control,
placing, curing and testing of concrete which is to be used for plain, reinforced or prestressed
concrete work in COMPANY concession areas. The specification however does not deal with
special types of concrete. The work shall conform to the grades, lines and dimensions shown on the
drawings.

3 MATERIAL

The basic materials required to produce concrete shall conform to the following in conjunction with
the refe 「ence standards mentioned in section 2.0

3.1 CEMENT

k. The cement shall be used within 30 days of its date of manufacture shown on the

3.2 COARSE AGGREGATE/ AGGREGAT KASAR

a. The coarse aggregate, either crushed rock or any other approved material, shall be clean,
angular, well graded free from organics, or any other undesirable material.

3.3 FINE AGGREGATE

a. The fine aggregate shall be either sand or finely crushed rock. If the finely crushed rock is used

3 .4 ADMIXTURES

b. The admixture shall be used in the dosages recommended by the manufacturer and / or
COMPANY.

admixture in excess of the quantity recommended by the COMPANY and the agreed
percentage of wastage shall be back charged to the CONTRACTOR.

3.5 WATER

a. Water for mixing, curing and other designated applications related with concrete production and
curing shall be free from dissolved salts, dissolved or undissolved impurities, organic matter,
acid or alkali or any other undesirable substance. The pH of water shall be between 6 and 8.

4 PRODUCTION AND QUALITY CONTROL OF CONCRETE

casted till date, to meet the criteria at any particular time shall automatically require a new mix
design, with the approval of the COMPANY.

separate record on the production of concrete in the format specified by the COMPANY also
shall be submitted to the COMPANY. If the concrete cubes fail to show the required strength as
per section 4 point "g" of this specification, the matter shall be immediately brought to the notice
of the COMPANY. If the conc 「ete cubes have failed to achieve the 7 day strength (i.e. 0.7 x
characte 「istic strength) then the COMPANY shall adopt measures like curing the structure where
such concrete was used for a longer period.

5 PLACING OF CONCRETE

a. The concrete shall be placed in the places shown on the drawing as per the dimensions, slopes
and elevations marked on the drawing. Correct concrete grade as per the drawing shall be
used. The CONTRACTOR shall be responsible for any request for inappropriate grade of
concrete. The batch so refused shall be back charged to the CONTRACTOR, in case the
concrete supply is by the COMPANY.

f. The concrete shall be thoroughly compacted using approved vibrators. The compaction shall be

7 POST PLACEMENT CARE OF CONCRETE

a. The concrete shall be deemed as wet till at least 48 hours after placing and the CONTRACTOR
shall take care to avoid heavy loads on this concrete du 「ing this period.

b. When the form work is removed, if the COMPANY notices any defect on the surface of

CONTRACTOR shall bring this to the notice of the COMPANY, who will then decide whether
the conc 「ete has to be completely 「emoved or only repaired. The surfaces which require only
repairs shall be freed of loose aggregates and mortar shall be applied to the said surface and
the surface smoothened. The mortar applied thus shall be cu 「ed as per section 6. Such repairs
shall be to the CONTRACTOR own expense. If the repairs are not carried out within 24 hours of
striking the forms an amount equal to 5% of the progress payment under the concrete item shall
be held towards the rectification till such time that the rectification is done.

be cut by making a 15 mm recess into the concrete and then cutting the said objects well below
the surface in question.

concrete. The maximum size of coarse aggregate used for such rectification shall be 1Orrnm.

The unit price paid for concrete shall be full compensation for furnishing all labour, materials, tools,
equipment and incidentals for completion of work involved in concrete as shown on drawing and as
specified and directed by the COMPANY.
