Morning Prayers
“I love them that love Me, and they that in the morning early watch for Me,
shall find Me.”
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen ±
THANK GOD FOR ALL HIS FAVORS AND OFFER YOURSELF TO HIM.
O my God, I most humbly thank Thee for all the favors Thou hast bestowed
upon me up to the present moment. I give Thee thanks from the bottom of
my heart that Thou hast created me after Thine own image and likeness, that
Thou hast redeemed me by the Precious Blood of Thy dear Son, and that
Thou has preserved me and brought me safe to the beginning of another
day. I offer to Thee, O Lord, my whole being, and in particular, all my
thoughts, words, actions, joys and sufferings of this day. I consecrate them
all to the glory of Thy name, beseeching Thee that through the infinite merits
of Jesus Christ, my Saviour, they may all find acceptance in Thy sight. May
Thy divine love animate them, and may they all tend to Thy greater glory.
My Queen, my Mother! I give myself entirely to thee, and to show my
devotion to thee I consecrate to thee this day, my eyes, my ears, my mouth,
my heart, my whole being without reserve, Wherefore, dear Mother, as I am
thine own, keep me, guard me, as thy property and possession.
O my God, in union with the Immaculate Heart of Mary (here kiss your
Scapular) I offer Thee the Precious Blood of Jesus from all the altars
throughout the world, joining with It the offering of my every thought, word
and action of this day. O my Jesus, I desire today to gain every indulgence
and merit I can and I offer them, together with myself, to Mary Immaculate,
that she may best apply them in the interests of They Most Sacred Heart.
Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that
anyone who fled to thy protection, implored thy help, or sought thy
intercession was left unaided. Inspired with this confidence, I fly to thee, O
Virgin of virgins, my Mother; to thee do I come, before thee I stand, sinful
and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but
in thy mercy hear and answer me. Amen.
St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle. Be our safeguard against the
wickedness and snares of the Devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray,
and do thou, O Prince of the heavenly host, by the power of God, cast into
hell Satan, and all the evil spirits, who wander about the world seeking the
ruin of souls. Amen.
Evening Prayers
“When I lie down, I go to sleep in peace; for you, Lord, keep me safe.”
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen ±
Come, Holy Ghost, fill the hearts of Thy faithful, and enkindle within them the
fire of Thy love.
Send forth Thy Spirit, and they shall be created. And Thou shalt renew the
face of the earth.
Let us pray,
O God, Who didst instruct the hearts of Thy faithful by the light of the Holy
Ghost, grant us, by the same Spirit to be truly wise, and ever to rejoice in His
consolation. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
LET US PLACE OURSELVES IN THE PRESENCE OF GOD, AND GIVE HIM THANKS FOR ALL THE
BENEFITS WE HAVE RECEIVED FROM HIM, PARTICULARLY THIS DAY.
O my God, I firmly believe that Thou art here present, and plainly seeist me,
and Thou observest all of my actions, all my thoughts, and the most secret
motions of my heart. Thou watchest over me with an incomparable love,
every moment bestowing favors, and preserving me from evil. Blessed be
Thy Holy Name, and may all creatures bless Thy goodness for all the benefits
I have received from Thee, particularly this day. May the saints and angels
supply my defect in rendering Thee due thanks. Never permit me to be so
base and wicked as to repay The bounties with ingratitude and Thy blessings
with offenses and injuries. O my Lord Jesus Christ, Judge of the living and the
dead, before Whom I must appear one day to give an exact account of my
whole life; enlighten me, I beseech Thee, and give me a humble and contrite
heart, that I may see wherein I have offended Thine Infinite Majesty, and
judge myself now with such a just severity, that then Thou mayest judge me
with mercy and clemency.
LET US HEAR EXAMINE WHAT SINS WE HAVE COMMITTED THIS DAY, IN THOUGHT, WORD,
DEED OR OMISSION. LET US CONCEIVE A GREAT SORROW FOR HAVING OFFENDED GOD.
O my God, I detest these and all other sins which I have committed against
Thy Divine Majesty. I am extremely sorry that I have offended Thee, because
Thou art infinitely good, and sin displeases Thee. I love Thee with my whole
heart and firmly purpose, by the help of Thy Grace, never more to offend
Thee. I resolve to avoid the occasions of sin. I will confess my sins, and will
endeavor to make satisfaction for them. Have mercy on me, O God, have
mercy, and pardon me, a wretched sinner!
Hail, Holy Queen, Mother of Mercy, Our life, our sweetness, and our hope! To
thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve; to thee do we send up our
sighs, mourning and weeping in this valley of tears. Turn then, most gracious
advocate, thine eyes of mercy towards us; and after this our exile, show unto
us the blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus; O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin
Mary. Amen.
Jesus, Mary, Joseph! I give you my heart and my soul.
Jesus, Mary, Joseph! Assist me in my last agony.
Jesus, Mary, Joseph! May I breathe forth my soul in peace with you.
