This post offers extensive clinical experience in Dermatology.
The post is initially for a one-year period with the option of extending
further if mutually agreeable.
This post will provide an excellent opportunity to gain experience in all
aspects of Dermatology including general inpatient and outpatient
Job Summary: dermatology care, including TWR’s.
Administrative duties will include the regular dictation of clinic letters,
discharge summaries and participation in medical audit and
governance.
The post holder will be provided with robust clinical supervision. There
will be plenty of opportunities to conduct Quality Improvement projects,
Audit and Research.
Key Result Areas: 1. To have made an effective contribution to reaching the Trust’s
vision, strategic objectives and key work programs.
2. To support the Trust in achieving all Clinical Negligence Scheme for
Trusts standards, including audit and patient satisfaction

3. MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POST:
The key duties and responsibilities of the post will be:
Clinical responsibility for the proper functioning of the Dermatology Service, including ward
rounds, and out-patient clinics (routine and TWR).
Continuing responsibility for the care of patients in their charge, including all administrative
duties associated with patient care.
Development of their own interests and sub-specialties within the specialty, including active
participation in research programs.
Ensure robust risk management and governance arrangements are in place
Participate in relevant audit and quality improvement programmes (QIPs).
To always have regard to the clinical and quality standards set out within the Division &
Trust guidelines
These duties are subject to review from time to time considering the changing
requirements of the service. If alterations to the described duties are required these will be
mutually agreed between the post holder and their supervisor.

In keeping with recent guidelines, the postholder will be expected to participate in the process
of medical audit and Quality improvement projects
Post Graduate Facilities
There is an active postgraduate education centre with a well-stocked library. Regular meetings
are held, in which the appointee will be expected to attend and participate. There is a monthly
clinical governance programme, attendance at this meeting is mandatory.
Annual appraisal and Revalidation
The post holder will be expected to be responsible for his/her continuing professional
development and to take a proactive approach to maintaining personal and professional
effectiveness in an evolving role. All doctors are expected to undergo revalidation in
accordance with GMC guidelines on a 5-year cycle. There is a Trust-wide commitment to
yearly appraisal.

The Trust complies with the requirements of the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) and the
requirement to report safeguarding issues to the Disclosure and Barring Service. All staff required
to have a DBS disclosure for their post will undergo a recheck every three years. Employees must
