Worksheet Activity 1.1

Street Fight Engineering -Visualizing Everyday Problems through Street Fight Engineering

Street Fight Engineering -Investigate, Perceive, Understand, Relate and Immerse

In this activity, you'll identify a real-world problem that you encounter in your daily life. This problem should
be something that could be solved with an engineering solution, not a policy change.

Here's what to do:

1. Think about issues in your home, neighbourhood, or community. What challenges do you face?
2. Use a drawing, flowchart, or any other creative technique to illustrate the problem.
3. Take a photo of your completed visual representation and paste into this space.
4. Write a brief description of the problem you've chosen. Clearly explain what the problem is and who
it affects

Remember:

● Focus on the problem itself, not the solution.

● Use your creativity to make your visual representation clear and engaging.
● Your goal is to communicate the problem effectively to a broad audience.

Example: If you choose the problem of "Waste Management in Cities," your visual representation might
show a city with overflowing trash cans, pollution, and unhealthy living conditions. Your description might
explain how this problem affects people's health and the environment.

Worksheet Activity 2.1

Identification of the Right Problem Mapping towards the Future Scopes

Engineering the Right Problem: Visualizing the Problems and mapping toward the appropriate Future
Scope

In this activity, you'll identify to which Future Scope the identified problem description gets mapped. If you
could not map, identify the problem which has real-world problems and that could be mapped to any one
of the mentioned Future Scope.

Here's what to do:

1. Identify which future scope your worked-out chart on day 1 gets mapped to.
2. If you find it difficult to identify or map to the Future Scope, you can identify new problem statement
mapping to the Future Scope.
3. Visualize the Problem: Use a drawing, flowchart, or any other creative technique to illustrate the
problem.
4. Take a photo of your completed visual representation and paste in the space below.
5. Write a brief description of the problem you've chosen. Clearly explain what the problem is and
who it affects

Remember:

● Focus on the problem itself, not the solution.

● Use your creativity to make your visual representation clear and engaging.
● Your goal is to communicate the problem effectively to a broad audience.

Example: If you choose the problem of "Next Gen Mobility”, your visual representation should focus on
safety, security, and privacy persistence, particularly with emerging technologies like autonomous vehicles
and shared mobility platforms.

Identify the Problem's Incidence and Severity.

1. Students need to do secondary research to identify the frequency of the problem mentioned by
them.
2. Measure the impact of the problem on the market
3. Identify the current solutions and limitations if any.
4. Map which hardware innovation it gets mapped to and state why.

Simulation Activity 3.1

Design and build a small-scale hardware project

1. Understand the Components Available

● Familiarize yourself with the basic components on the platform: resistors, capacitors,
inductors, diodes, transistors, power sources, and ground connections.
● Make sure you know where to find each component and how to set its properties (e.g.,
resistance, capacitance).

2. Set Up Power Sources and Ground

● Every circuit needs a source of power (e.g., battery, DC power supply) and a ground reference.
● Place these correctly in the circuit: the positive terminal of your power source should connect
to the positive end of your circuit, and ground should be connected to the negative end or zero-
voltage line.

3. Use Proper Connections

● Ensure that all connections between components are made clearly.

● Use labels if the circuit becomes complex to identify nodes more easily.

4. Adjust Component Values

● Adjust component values (e.g., resistance in ohms, capacitance in farads, or voltage levels).
● Set appropriate values for each component to avoid unrealistic simulation results.

6. Use a Multimeter or Oscilloscope

● Use appropriate tools like virtual multimeters or oscilloscopes for measuring voltage, current,
or waveform behavior.
● Place these instruments appropriately in the circuit to monitor behavior. For instance, you
might place an oscilloscope across a resistor to observe voltage changes over time.

7. Test with Different Input Conditions

● Try changing the input voltage, frequency, or component values to see how the circuit
responds. This can help in understanding circuit stability and behavior under varying
conditions.

8. Utilize Probes and Graphs

● Probes or voltage/current meters on different parts of the circuit help monitor specific points.
Most simulators offer graphs or plots to visualize real-time changes, which can be useful for
dynamic circuits (e.g., oscillators or RC circuits).

9. Identify Common Simulation Errors

● Be prepared to troubleshoot issues such as “floating nodes” (unconnected nodes), loops

without resistance (short circuits), and incorrect polarity for components like diodes.
Innovation Practicum – 1 Workbook
● Platforms often show warnings or errors that can guide you on what needs fixing.

10. Save and Share Circuits

● This can be helpful if you need feedback or want to revisit a circuit. Once you complete the
simulation, paste the outcome below along with your built circuit.
