INTRODUCTION

ANIRUTH GARMENTS (Hosiery manufactures & Exporters) is a company registered under

company’s act of 1956. This project covers various departments and focuses on each and every
department in order to gain knowledge about garments. There is also annexure of the financial
statements of the department of the company. The project is in concern with partial fulfillment of
the degree required.

The Indian fabric art underwent a dramatic change with the industrial revolution in Europe
and colonial rule in India for the Indian garments industry the first half of the 19th centuries was
particularly tremendous as it stuttered severe competition from the cheap English mill trade
textiles.
In response to this trend the first cotton mill was established in India in 1854. The supply
of cotton from North America during 1970’s the breakthrough in cotton production through hybrid
seed development enabled the country to run from a net importer to a net exporter.
In the last 25 years the garments production has grown by 200% of which 60% increase
has been in area of blended man-made fabrics. The garments contribute nearly 14% of the annual
value addition of industrial production and more than 30% of total exports.

In India, the garments are one of the oldest and has been the foremost industry in the
country and it provides tremendous opportunities for employment as to earn huge amount as
revenue. The garments are growing up to meet the challenges of ever-increasing population. The
Indian government is also playing a major role in promoting the garments.
The government has made many efforts to boost export. Hosiery generally means knitted
fabrics, knitting process involves in interloping of thread with the help of needles. The knitting
industry has been concentrating on the production of only underwear garments. However, with
recent shift in clothing habit in India,
Garments are one of the basic necessities of life like shelter and food. It is used by every
individual of the world. The trend of garments also changes according to the needs and fashionof the
people. Garments industry is one of the leading sectors which earn high foreign exchange

earnings to the country. Indian garments are very well known for its quality and its best prices.The
knitwear garments of Tirupur are popular worldwide. Textile manufactures of Tirupur areproducing
different types of garments to cater to the needs of children, men, women. Tirupur garments are
exported to many countries across the world, particularly to USA, UK and European Countries.

The Indian garment industry is characterized with high level of uncertainties and high
level of fast changing consumer preference, fashion change etc... Garment companies are facing
threats due to change in environment and policies. The garment companies have to adopt
different modes of marketing because the competition has increased in the hosiery fields. The
present scenario of Garments companies is a technology development in the field of textiles.

the year 2011 by hiring a rented building later on 2015 they constructed a new building and shifted
there, after shifting organization had a good growth 2018,2019 and 2020 werethe peak periods of
Aniruth garments. They concentrated more on quality and time management which paved the way
for their growth.

 DEPARTMENTS AND THEIR FUNCTIONS

1.ACCOUNTING DEPARTMENT:

Accounting department is the department which is responsible for preparing financial

statements, maintaining separate ledgers, payment of bills, maintaining payroll, creating invoices,
and more.

PROCESS OF ACCOUNTING DEPARTMENT:

● Evaluate growth of business.

● Create and maintain separate ledgers.

● Maintain periodic records of the company.

● Maintain bank statements of the company.

ROLES OF ACCOUNTING DEPARTMENT:

• Accounting department plays an important records day to day financial activities

• Accounting department also progresses the accounting information available.

2. FABRIC DEPARTMENT:

Fabric department is the department responsible for storing all the raw materials
specially knitted fabrics necessary to produce garments. It is the department which decides how
and where it should merchandise.

PROCESS OF FABRIC DEPARTMENT:

● Purchasing of yarns according to counts required to knitted required fabric.

● Dye the yarn or dye the knitted fabric choose which is cost efficient.

• After dyeing fabric is sent washing process.

● After washing process, the fabric is sent for compacting process.

ROLES OF FABRIC DEPARTMENT:

● Fabric department is the department receive the fabric and stores it.

● Second role of fabric department is to check the fabric.

● Fabric department is the department which is responsible for shade checking also.

● If there is any mismatch in shade fabric department has rights to reject the lot.

● Fabric department is the department responsible for quality checking also.

● After all process were completed, the fabric is sent to cutting department.

CUTTING DEPARTMENT:

Cutting department is the department responsible for cutting fabrics for the
garments orders and feeding the stitching department with cuttings. The cutting capacity is planned
based on the daily feeding requirement of the stitching department.

 PROCESS OF CUTTING DEPARTMENT:

● First stage of cutting department is to gather fabric from fabric store.

● Second process is to relax the fabrics to find fabric breakouts.

● Third process is spreading/layering the fabric.

● Fourth process is to trace the fabrics on layered fabrics.

● Last process is to cut the fabrics and send it to stitching department.

ROLES OF CUTTING DEPARTMENT:

● Cutting department is responsible for receiving fabrics from fabrics department.

● Cutting department is responsible for relaxing fabrics.

● Cutting department is responsible for spreading/layering fabrics.

● Cutting department is responsible for tracing patterns provided by the company.

● Cutting department is responsible for cutting appliques also.

● Cutting department is responsible to feeding stitching departments on time.

3.STITCHING DEPARTMENT:
Stitching department is responsible for stitching garments and make it into clothes. Operators stitch
garments using different types of stitching machines. There are three types of stitching machine
namely overlock, pat lock, and singer.

PROCESS OF STITCHING DEPARTMENT:

• First process of stitching department is to receive the fabric from cutting department.

• Second process is to target for daily production.

• Third process is to set machine layout based on stitches required.

• Last process of stitching is to send it to checking department.

ROLES OF STITCHING DEPARTMENT:

● Stitching department is responsible for style analysis.

● Stitching department is responsible for estimating labor costs.

● Stitching department is responsible for setting the line for production.

● Stitching department is responsible to re-stitch the garments in case of stitching mistakes.

● Stitching department is responsible for balancing assembly line.

 4. CHECKING DEPARTMENT:
Checking department is the department responsible for checking all garments at thefinishing stage
for visuals and measurement. Finishing checkers check the complete garment inside and out.
Checking is done for garment detailing, such as care labelling, and trims.

PROCESS OF CHECKING DEPARTMENT:

➢ First process of checking is trimming threads.

➢ Second process is checking the garments deeply.

➢ Third process is attaching ropes and buttoning the garments.

➢ Last process is to send it to ironing department.

➢ Checking department is responsible for trimming of threads.

5. IRONING AND PACKAGING DEPARTMENT:

Packing department is the department responsible for packing to protect the

content from the elements, allow for the ease of transportation, marketing and communicating the
value of the product, security of the product to keep the consumer safe.

PROCESS OF PACKAGING DEPARTMENT:

a. First process of packaging is to receives checked garments from checking.

b. Second process of packing is ironing the garments.

c. Third process is to wrap it single polythene covers and then in master polythene cover.

d. Last process is to pack it in carton boxes.

ROLES OF PACKAGING DEPARTMENT:

a. Packing department is responsible pack the completed garments.

b. Packing department is responsible to change defective goods before dispose.

c. Packing should be done neatly and tide as presentation attracts the customers.

 CONCLUSION

From the industrial training under taken in the Aniruth garments. I came to know
about the various activates involved in the fields of hosiery product. It is easy to identify the
key areas and to cover various techniques. The day-to-day function of various department
were carried on perfectly it is because of the effective management the quality is maintained
with reasonable cost.

The workers are satisfied with present working condition and also satisfied with
monetary and non- monetary compensation provided by the organization.

This training gave me a clear idea about the functioning of the production, finance,
marketing, personnel and purchase department. This is an on-the-job training which helps the
management students to gain awareness on the functional activities of an organized institution.This
will be helpful to identify the flow of authority and responsibility of the personnel.
