SELF ASSESMENT TERM -1,MODEL PAPER-2024-25
8th CLASS BIOLOGICAL SCIENCE KEY (50 M)
SECTION-I (3Q X 2M=6M)
1.What questions would you ask he famers to know more about Natural manures?
1) What are the uses of natural manures?
2) How can you prepare natural manures ?
2.What will happen if metamorphosis does not occur in tadpole larva?
The organism would not be able to reach its full potential and would not be able to reproduce.
3.Write down the procedure how can you prepare the bread?
1) Flour, salt, and yeast are mixed well.
2) Prepare flour into proper shaped loaf.
3) loaf is baked into oven at 1800 -2000 C for 20-30 minutes.
4) After its colour changed into brown bread is ready to eat.
SECTION-II (4Q X 4M= 16M)
4.write down the procedure how can you separate the good quality seeds from damaged seeds?
1) Fill a large container with water.
2) Gently add the seeds to the water.
3) Damaged seeds will float to the surface, while healthy seeds will sink to the bottom.
4) Remove the floating seeds, and you're left with good quality seeds.
5.Study the table and answer the given questions.
Human Causative Micro Mode of
Preventive Measures
Disease organism Transmission
Tuberculosis Bacteria Air Keep the patient in complete isolation
Polio Virus Air Vaccination to be given at suitable age
Typhoid Bacteria Water Vaccination
Hepatitis A Virus Water Drink boiled drinking water
i. Which organism causes Polio?
Virus
ii. What are the preventive measures of Hepatitis A?
Drinking boiled drinking water.
iii. What is the mode of transmission of the disease Typhoid?
Vaccination.
iv. Name any two Bacterial diseases.
Tuberculosis, Typhoid.
6.Draw a neat labelled diagram of Female reproductive system.
7.Suggest some methods to eradicate the weeds in crop fields.
Weeds are unwanted plants which grow along with the crop plants in cultivated field and cause
reduction of crop yield.
The different methods of weed control are :
1. Mechanical methods : Weeds can be removed by uprooting by hand or by using trowel.
2. Cultural methods : By employing timely sowing of seeds in properly prepared beds,
intercropping and crop rotation methods, weed growth can be minimized.
3. Chemical methods : Weeds can be destroyed by spraying chemical called weedicides like 2,4-D.
4. Biological methods : Certain insects and crop plants prevent the growth of weeds.
SECTION-II (1Q X 8M= 8M)
8.A)
i) Fill the following blanks.
1.Testis 2.Ovum 3.Zygote 4.Foetus
ii) what are the uses of ploughing in agriculture?
1. The advantages of ploughing are:
2. Loosening of soil can improve air circulation.
3. The roots can penetrate deeper into the soil, thus holding the plant firmly.
4. Ploughing enhances the water retention capacity of the soil.
5. Ploughing uproots the weeds growing in the field and aids in the growth of microbes.
8.B) What is vaccines? How they work in our body?
1. A vaccine is a substance that is used for the production of antidotes in the body and provides
immunity against one or a few diseases.
2. Vaccines contain weakened or dead microbial strains of any particular disease.
3. This helps to protect the individual against future infections from the same pathogen.
4. The process of implementing the vaccine is called vaccination.
5. vaccination was first developed by Edward Jenner in 1796.
6. When a vaccine is given to a body orally or through injection.
7. It produces a specific cell or antibody against the pathogen.
8. These cells which are called as antibodies actively protects from the pathogens for which the
vaccine is given, throughout the life.
