Subject: Regarding the Language Lab Facilities
We want to clarify that while our language lab is equipped with all the necessary
hardware, software apps and allied accessories for audiovisual learning, we have
adopted a blended learning approach to cater to the evolving requirements of the
students.
To enhance language learning and provide flexibility, we have integrated the usage
of the language learning applications Duolingo and Memrise. These applications
offer a wider interactive exercise, personalised learning paths, and real-time
feedback. Utilisation of these digital tools, our students have the advantage of:
Personalised Learning: These applications tailor the learning experience to the
individual needs and paces of students from different vernacular backgrounds.
Accessibility: Students can access these applications anytime, anywhere, through
their smartphones or computers.
Portability: Students can learn on the go by utilising their commute time or
breaks.
Gamification: The gamified approach of these applications makes learning
engaging and motivating.
Progress Tracking: Students monitor their progress and set learning goals.
Multimedia Integration: Smartphones can support various multimedia formats,
enhancing the learning experience.
Real-time Feedback: Many language learning apps provide instant feedback and
corrections.
By utilising these digital tools, our students have the advantage of:
Duolingo:
Gamified Learning: Duolingo's gamification elements, such as XP points, streaks,
and leaderboards, make learning fun and engaging.
Diverse Language Options: It offers a wide range of languages to choose from,
catering to diverse student interests.

Voice Recognition: Allows learners to practice pronunciation and receive
feedback.
Speech Recognition: Duolingo's speech recognition feature helps students practice
pronunciation and receive immediate feedback.
Interactive Exercises: Provides a variety of exercises to practice speaking, reading,
listening, and writing
Community: Connects learners with others to share experiences and support each
other.
Memrise:
Mnemonic Techniques: Memrise uses mnemonic techniques to help students
remember vocabulary and grammar rules effectively.
Personalized Learning Paths: It adapts to each student's learning pace and style,
ensuring optimal learning outcomes.
Community-Created Content: Memrise offers a vast library of user-generated
content, providing various learning materials.
Engaging Content: The platform utilizes a variety of engaging content, including
videos, images, and audio clips, to create a more immersive learning experience.
Considering the advantages of applications, both apps are suitable choices for our
students. That makes apps a comprehensive language learning tool.
We believe smartphones, being highly portable and ubiquitous devices, have
become an integral part of our students' learning routine. They offer several
advantages for language learning. While our language lab provides a physical
space for language learning, we have found that the blended learning approach,
incorporating smartphone-based language learning, has been highly effective in
improving our students' language proficiency.
We are happy to provide further information or documentation to support our
claims.
