ME 316 - Outline

This document provides information about the ME 316 Thermofluids Lab course offered in the second semester of 2012 at King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals. The lab aims to demonstrate fluid mechanics and heat transfer concepts studied in prerequisite courses through hands-on experiments. Over 15 weekly experiments will assess topics like fluid flow measurements, heat conduction, and heat exchanger characteristics. Students will complete short reports for some experiments and full reports for others, as well as lab tests. Attendance is required to receive reports. Grades are calculated based on reports, tests, and participation.

KING FAHD UNIVERSITY OF PETROLUM AND MINERALS Mechanical Engineering Department ME 316 Thermofluids Lab.

Second Semester 2012 (112)

This lab course aims to demonstrate the fundamentals of fluid mechanics and heat transfer and their application in engineering practice. Many of the concepts and basic theories studied in ME 311 and ME 315 are confirmed and applied through different experiments.

Prerequisite: ME 311 Co-requisites: ME 315 Textbook: Lab Manual, Mechanical Engineering Department, KFUPM, Dhahran, Saudi Arabia. References: Textbooks of ME 311 and ME 315

Objectives:
1. To provide students with hands-on experience for measuring various physical quantities and properties. 2. To enable students to apply the main concepts of Fluid Mechanics and Heat Transfer courses to evaluate the performance of physical systems. Section 03 (Sunday 2:10 PM 04:50 PM); Section 07 (Tuesday 2:10 PM 04:50 PM)
