ABOUT YOUTH PARLIAMENT
Youth Parliament is a platform that allows young people to engage in discussions
and decision-making processes similar to those in a real parliament. It provides an
opportunity for young individuals to learn about democracy, develop their public
speaking and debating skills, and express their views on various issues.

PDEU YOUTH PARLIAMENT 2024

The Youth Parliament aims to inspire India’s future leaders, with plans to make it an
annual event to encourage youth participation in national issues. Speakers
addressed topics such as electoral reforms, gender equality, and the proposed One
Nation One Election policy. Students explored the benefits and challenges of this
idea, discussing its potential impact on the country.

From February 2–4, 2024, the School of Liberal Studies at PDEU in Gandhinagar
organized the PDEU Youth Parliament, bringing together over 230 students from
across India to discuss and debate key national issues in a setting modelled after
the Lok Sabha.

During the event, delegates showcased their understanding, leadership, and social
awareness by engaging in discussions on Electoral Reforms, Gender Rights, and
Pivotal Policies. They received insights from respected speakers, and exceptional
performers were recognized for their skills in public speaking and leadership.
The event partnered with organizations like the Election Commission
of Gujarat, Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, Blind People Association (Ten
students from the Blind People Association actively participated in
the parliamentary proceedings, contributing unique perspectives and
promoting inclusiveness), and Kitaab aur Kalam Foundation. The
Election Commission also conducted voting simulations to give
students hands-on experience with the electoral process.

Overall, the event was a great success, helping students develop

civic responsibility and engage in meaningful conversations about
India’s future.
