Introduction: A soldier is someone who defends, protects and fights for his nation, living
his/her life according to certain instructions. Such a Soldier is guided by some rules of dos and
don’ts, so that he/she will not be removed from the list of other soldiers. Who then is a
Christian Soldier?
PROGRESSION OF EVENTS
God punishes sin Romans 3:26. Sin separate you from God but God does not want you to be
separated from Him, so He made a plan for your sins to be forgiven by sending Jesus Christ to
the world to come and save you
A Christian is someone who has obeyed the call in John 3:16; …whosoever believes in me
(Christ) shall be saved. Someone who has received Jesus as Lord and personal Saviour.

He/she has decided to follow Jesus without looking back to the things of the World anymore.
He has decided to put on the whole armor of God so that he/she can please God who is the
head of the Army in Ephesians 6:11-12
An Armor is what a soldier is covered with so that he is fully protected from the enemy.
An armor of God is what God has given you to protect yourself from the enemy that does not
want you to be His (God) soldier again
Class activity 1: Mention some sins you know (Examples are lying, stealing, fighting, cheating,
bullying disobeying, insulting, etc)
1. Truth as a Belt
3. Shoes as your readiness to go about telling others the good news of peace (telling your
friends about Jesus)
4. Faith as a Shield
5. Salvation as Helmet

Memory Verse: Mathew 9:23 Then He said to the crowd if any of you want to be my follower,
you must give up your own way, take up the cross daily and follow me.
Introduction: It was quiet and dark, a man walked quickly down the street of Jerusalem, who
was the man? Where was he going? His name is Nicodemus he wanted to find out something
from Jesus. Now you too also want to find out how to become a Christian soldier. Let us see if
the answer Nicodemus got will also be needed for our topic today.
PROGRESSION OF EVENTS.
(He was a Pharisee, a prominent religious leader and a teacher who interpreted the meaning of
God's instructions or law in Jerusalem.
B. He said to Jesus " Your miracles shows that you are a teacher from God.
D. Jesus knowing where Nicodemus was going; told him " No one can see the kingdom of God
unless he is born again”
Nicodemus too wants to be one of Jesus’ soldier but had never heard about being born again
before, so he asked that; does one become a baby again and enter his mother's womb and be
born the second time?
Jesus explained to him that when you are born into to the World, you are born a Sinner.
A Sin is whatever you do, think or say that displeases God. Examples are fighting, lying, stealing,
disobeying, cheating, bullying, gossiping (Mention some more). A sinner is someone who does
any of the things mentioned
G. Jesus explained to Nicodemus the plan of God to save the World from sin by sending His Son
to the World to die for our sins. For God so loved the World, that He gave His only begotten
Son, that whosoever believes in Him will not perish but have everlasting life. John 3 16
When a Sinner calls upon Jesus he/she will be saved from sin to become a child of God (that is;
a Christian) and then he/she can now become a Christian Soldier. Romans 10:13.

Him.
H. After you have received Jesus then He also wants you to continue being a Christian Soldier by
doing the followings; GROW
DAY 3
MEMORY VERSE: Proverbs 1:10 “My Son if sinners entice you, do not consent”.
INTRODUCTION: Have you been asked to do something that is against what the Bible clearly
teaches? Have you been pressured to lie, fight, cheat, steal or deny your belief in God? There
were three young men in the Bible who were challenged by the King to go against what God had
said or die. They are God's children; they are Christian Soldiers. It all started when the king built
a statue as big as a building and asked them to bow and worship it. What did they do? (Exodus
20:4 -5 says thou shall not make a carved image and bow to it).
PROGRESSION OF EVENTS:
A. King Nebuchadnezzar made a huge golden image. v1. (The image statue was very huge and
wide).
B. He ordered all leaders to come to its dedication and commanded them to bow and worship the
image or be thrown into a fiery furnace vs 2-6.
D. Among the leaders were Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego. They were young men of Israel
that were captive in Babylon who knew and served the true God the Maker of Heaven and Earth.
They are the only ones that did not bow to Nebuchadnezzar’s golden image. These are God's
Soldiers.
If you were the one; would you have bowed? Do you know the only true God? John 17:3.
The three young men knew God and worship Him alone, they are Christian Soldiers and would
never bow down to a statue. Exodus 20: 4-5, Mathew 4:10).
E. Angered that the three young men refused to bow, the king offered them one more chance to
worship the idol or be destroyed in the fiery furnace vs 8-15.

into the furnace which had been made seven times hotter but his own soldiers were killed instead
vs16-23.
G. King Nebuchadnezzar looked into the furnace and was amazed to see four men not three
walking around in the fire vs 24-25 (when you stand as a Christian Soldier, you may face
persecution but God helps you to stand, He will be with you and bring you out of it. Ephesians
6:10. God was with the three young men in the flame of the furnace and they were protected
much to the King's surprise).
H. When the king called the three men to come out of the furnace and saw that their bodies were
completely untouched by fire, he acknowledged their God as the most High. vs26 -27
CLIMAX: Because of the courageous stand of the three men who are Christian Soldiers, the
king declared that everyone should honour the true God. vs28
CONCLUSION: 1. the three Hebrew boys honoured God and God was with them in the fire and
those that threw them there died because of the hotness of the fire; they did not escape.vs29
2. The king promoted the three young men who honoured God .vs 30; which means God and
man’s honour.
INVITATION: You cannot be an Onward Christian Soldier without first of all receiving Jesus

DAY 2
MEMORY VERSE: 2 Corinthians 10:4 “For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but
mighty in God for pulling down strong holds”.
As a Soldier of Christ, you must have your weapon ready for battle knowing who you are
fighting against. Your weapon is not your fist, tongue, stick, cane, stone, etc. Your enemy is not
that boy or that girl in your class, school, neighborhood, church or on the street but the evil spirit
in them that makes them do hurtful things. So you must make sure as a Christian Soldier you use
your Spiritual tools (Armor of God)
STUDY GUIDE.
A. What is an Armor?
An Armor is a special kind of suit worn for protection. Deep sea divers wear a kind of "armor".
Even footballers wear a type of Armor.
Roman Soldiers wear Armor to protect themselves in battle. In Ephesians 6, the piece of a
Roman Soldier Armor is used as an object lesson to help you understand the protection God
offers you in your battle against Satan.
• Devil is stronger than you but not powerful or stronger than God.
• You are a Soldier in God's army so you need God's armor offered to you.
• God's Armor as an offensive weapon if used correctly will defeat Satan and his armies in every
battle.
• when you take it up " you will be able to withstand in the evil day" Ephesians 6:11
• It helps you to withstand devil's temptations, you will not give in to sin.
D. What is this Armor? The armor is one but is comprised of 6 parts:
Class assignment: Read Ephesians 6:12-18 and list the armor of God available to you as a
Christian Soldier

and this protection is for you if you live a righteous life. Your righteousness comes from Jesus
Christ when you accept Him as your Saviour and you begin to do the right things everyday by
His help. Romans 3:10,23, Ephesians 4:32). Ask God to help you to choose right each day.

accepting His Son Jesus as your Saviour, then, God wants you to live in peace with everyone
around you and spread the good news all around.

You need to always have your shield of faith to dodge his shoots at all times also. With the Word
of God in your heart, you will be victorious.
5. The Helmet Of Salvation: A Soldier's helmet protects his head and gives him confidence that
he is safe from the attack. What enters your mind is what is processed in your brain; Satan wants
to attack the mind therefore allow God to control your mind.
6. The Sword Of The Spirit: Your Sword is not made of steel or iron or wood because you are
not fighting against flesh and blood, you are fighting spiritual battle, one that can only be won by
God's power. Our weapon is the Word of God therefore, learn and memorize the God's word;
Psalm 119 :10-11.

Christ as your Saviour. Jesus died for you so that you can have your sins forgiven. Come! Accept
Him today.
Challenge: If you have already received Jesus as your Saviour, do not go back; keep following
Him.
Conclusion: "Praying always ....... being watchful to this end with all perseverance". A good
Soldier is always in touch with his commander. He /She does not act on his/her own. As a good
Christian Soldier you need to constantly communicate with God in prayer, ask for His direction
and follow His orders.

CONGRESS 2024 TEENS BIBLE STUDY 1
THEME: ONWARD CHRISTIAN SOLDIER
TOPIC: WHO IS A CHRISTIAN SOLDIER?
MEMORY VERSE: DANIEL 11:32b “But the people that do know their God shall be strong,
and do exploits.”
LESSON AIM: The Teens will rely on God to be a member of His Army
INTRODUCTION: The Christian soldier is a concept that describes a believer who lives his or
her life as a member of God's army, representing Christ on earth. Christian Soldiers are God's
representatives here on earth who are assigned to do the work that He has instructed in His
Word.

LIFE APPLICATION: Being a soldier is no child’s play not in an earthly army, and certainly
not in God’s army. A soldier in the Lord’s army is not just one who loves prayers, worship, and
church. It is someone who has submitted their life to the Lord (our commanding officer). As a
Spirit-filled child, God’s will is that you live for Him in every way, representing Him on earth
without being entangled in the things of this world. This is how we see His kingdom come and
His will done on earth. So living as an active soldier for Christ requires you to be alert and build
yourself up to do His work.
INVITATION: To be able to live as an active Christian Soldier, you need to call on the name of
Jesus to be saved (Romans 10:13).
CONCLUSION: Every true child of God is a Soldier who should make people see reason to
love God and do his will John 14:15,21.
MEMORY VERSE: 2 Timothy 2:3: "Thou, therefore, endure hardness, as a good soldier of
Jesus Christ".
LESSON AIM: Know and rely on the Lord to be spiritually ready to fight Spiritual battles
RELATED TRUTH: God wants you to be prepared and depend on Jesus to fight spiritual
battles
INTRODUCTION: Do you find life as a child of God often feels like a battle? A battle to resist
temptation and pursue godliness; a battle to keep going in faith and love and hope; a battle to
read the Bible and pray and serve others in the church? It feels like a battle because it is a battle.
We are at war. (Revelation 12-13).
STUDY GUIDE: INTERACTION
1. Paul said we are to put on the belt of truth. (Ephesians 6:14a)
● What does the soldier's belt do? (secures the clothing he will wear into battle).
● Who is the belt of truth? (The belt of truth is Christ Jesus). John 14:6
● How do you apply the belt of truth? (By putting your trust in Jesus and accepting the
Word of God). Psalm 25:1-2
2. Put on the breastplate of righteousness (Ephesians 6:14b)
● What is the breastplate of righteousness? (It is Christ's righteousness that He has put on
the children of God). 2 Corinthians 5:21
● How can you put on the breastplate of Righteousness (By knowing Jesus and doing His
will) Philippians 3:10-12
3. A Christian soldier should always remember to wear gospel shoes (Ephesians 6:15)
● How do you put on the gospel shoes? (Study the bible) 2Timothy 2:15
● What do you do after studying the bible? (Pray over the Word you have studied for God
to show you the meaning)
● How do you apply the Word to your life? (Seek Christ and stand firmly on His promises).
4. Wear the shield of faith in God. (Ephesians 6:16)
● What is the shield of faith? (God is the shield, and faith in Him is a way to guard against
any form of attack). Matthew 4:1-11
● Why must you wear the shield of faith? (To prepare against Satan’s attack) 2 Corinthians
10:4
● How do you wear the shield of faith? (By having faith that our Father's love never goes
away).
● Why do you constantly wear the shield of faith? (To hold fast to the promise that Jesus
will not leave us nor forsake us). Hebrews 13:5
5. A soldier protects his head by wearing the helmet of salvation. (Ephesians 6:17a)
● Who is the helmet of salvation? (Jesus Christ) John 1:12
● Why do you wear the helmet of Salvation? (To protect your mind). Isaiah 26:3
● How do you wear the helmet of salvation? (By letting Christ and His cross be foremost in
your thoughts). Luke 9:23
6. Paul said, " Take up the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God." (Ephesians
6:17b)
● Why must you take up the sword of the spirit? (When tempted by Satan, you need the
word of God to respond just like Jesus did when He was tempted).
● Why should you respond to Satan with the Word of God? (If Jesus saw the need to stand
on Scripture amid temptation, we certainly must only think we can withstand Satan's
fiery darts by relying on the Scripture). Matthew 4:1-11
LIFE APPLICATION: In sports, it is of no ultimate significance whether you win or lose, but
spiritually it is of eternal importance. How can we make sure we are victorious in the Christian
life? There is the old hymn sung, Onward Christian Soldiers, which is really about the spiritual
warfare in which we are all engaged. Anyone who does not acknowledge that he is alive on a
battlefield is deceiving himself. You can only be battle-ready once you surrender your life to
Christ Jesus. Once this change of heart occurs, you must move forward wearing the whole armor
of God. As a child of God, you must accept every gift our heavenly Father offers to you. Battles
are not won unless soldiers are properly equipped and trained.
As a soldier going into battle, you need to know your enemy. Paul said our opponent is not flesh
and blood. We do not wage spiritual warfare against an ordinary enemy. Satan is more powerful
than we can imagine, and his tactics are designed to separate us from our Father. You are not
defenseless on this spiritual battlefield, though. Like Apostle Paul said, to be a Christian Soldier
you must be strong in the Lord, and in the power of His might.
INVITATION: To be a Christian Soldier and to be battle-ready, you must accept Jesus as your
Lord and Saviour (John 1:12).
CONCLUSION: Finally, we must pray constantly. God has given us the gift of prayer. He hears
and answers prayer. Let us not overlook all the ways God prepares us to do battle with our
adversary. (Ephesians 6:18)
MEMORY VERSE: 2 Timothy 2:3 “Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus
Christ.”
LESSON AIM: The Teens will depend on God to know and do the things that will make them
Christian Soldiers
CENTRAL TRUTH: God wants you to depend on Jesus to become a Christian soldier.
INTRODUCTION: A man was coming out of church one day, and the Pastor was standing at
the door, as he always was, to shake hands with the worshippers. As he shook the man’s hand, he
pulled him aside and said, “You need to join the army of the Lord.”
The man replied, “I’m already in the army of the Lord, Pastor.”
So the Pastor enquired, “Then why do I only see you at Christmas and Easter?”
The man whispered back, “I’m in the Secret Service.” How can we be good soldiers of Jesus
Christ? What does it take for us to be soldiers who are victorious in the spiritual conflict?
LIFE APPLICATION: As a child of God, you are in a spiritual warfare. The devil, the world,
and the flesh are real enemies. These spiritual enemies are out to destroy the testimony and
effectiveness of the believer. You should go onward and forward for the cause of Christ! Lift His
royal banner and do not let it suffer loss. Let it be known you are in the Lord’s army, and as His
soldiers, you are earnestly contending for the faith once delivered to the saints.
The enemy will seek to take you out or make you a prisoner of war. Thus, you are called upon to
be good soldiers for the war.
