1. Inspect the condition of the gasket between the turbocharger and the exhaust manifold
and inspect the condition of the O-ring seals. Replace the O-ring seals and the gaskets,
if necessary.
2. Place clean engine oil in the oil supply port of the turbocharger prior to installation. The
oil will provide lubrication during starting and protection during storage.
3. Apply Tooling (A) to the turbocharger mounting studs on the exhaust manifold.
4. Connect compressor (16) , housing (1) and cartridge (15) .
5. Install band clamps (12) and (13) .
Tighten the band clamps to the following torque. ... 14 ± 1 N·m (10 ± 1 lb ft)
6. Tap lightly around the clamps with a soft hammer and tighten the clamps again.
Tighten the band clamps to the following torque. ... 14 ± 1 N·m (10 ± 1 lb ft)
7. Install gasket (14) on the studs for the exhaust manifold. Position compressor (16) ,
housing (1) , and cartridge (15) on the exhaust manifold.
Note: Discard the nuts after use. Use new nuts for installation.
8. Install nuts (4) .
Tighten the nuts to the following torque. ... 70 N·m (51 lb ft)
9. Position the gasket, the O-ring seal, and oil drain tube assembly (9) on the
turbocharger.
10. Install bolts (11) , bolts (10) and the washers.
11. Install oil supply tube assembly (3) , and the gasket on the turbocharger. Install bolts (2)
and the washers.
12. Connect fitting (5) .
13. Install clamp (6) and bolt (7) .
14. Connect hose (8) to the wastegate.
