4 - PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE
This chapter provides preventive maintenance procedures to be accomplished on a scheduled basis. The
preventive maintenance procedures contain step-by-step instructions.
The preventive maintenance index (table Tab. 4.1.1) provides a cross-reference to all the maintenance
procedures. It contains the following information:
- PERIODICITY: it is a code of one or two letters indicating periodicity. The following periodicity
codes are used:
- D - Daily
- W - Weekly
- M - Monthly
- Q - Quarterly
- S - Semi-annually
- A - Annually
- BA - Biennial
- TA - Triennial
- QD - Quadrennial
- nY - n Years
- AR - As Required
- TASK DESCRIPTION: The "Task Description" column indicates the Procedure title.
- REF. PROC.: The Ref. Proc. column provides the reference to the actual procedure steps.
- Trade (Number + Skill): qualification of the personnel necessary to perform the procedure. The
following cross reference is provided for category:
- E - Electrician
- EM - Electromechanical
- M - Mechanical
- O - Operator
The following cross reference is provided for skill level:
- 01 - Low
- 02 - Medium
- 03 - High
- Support equipment standard: it reports the list of standard equipment needed to perform the
maintenance task
- Support equipment special: it reports the list of special equipment needed to perform the maintenance
task
- Consumables, materials and expendables: it reports the list of consumables, materials and
expendable needed to perform the maintenance task
- Spares: it reports the list of spare parts

PROCEDURE
1 Perform steps 1) to 3) of the Trasnmitter Unit Switch OFF procedure Proc. 2.24 ).
2 Inspect the absence of damages on Transmitter structure and on the protection doors.
5 On the Transmitter verify that all cables, are connected in compliance to the following diagrams
(see Fig. 4.2.1 , Fig. 4.2.2 , Fig. 4.2.3 , Fig. 4.2.4 , Fig. 4.2.5 , Fig. 4.2.6 , Fig. 4.2.7 , Fig. 4.2.8 ).
8 By using clothes and solvent, clean all the Transmitter external cables.
9 If necessary, perform corrective actions to restore the original condition of the damaged one.

PROCEDURE
WARNING
The execution of this procedure requires the Transmitter to be set into radiation status. Check
the possibility of enabling radiation before performing the procedures.
1 If the Transmitter is Switched OFF, perform steps 1) to 7) of the TX Switch ON procedure (see
Proc. 2.29 ).
2 On the TX LOCAL CONTROL PANEL Main Menu page, press the MAINT REQ pushbutton and
wait until the status flag switches from OFF to ON (see Fig. 4.3.1 ).
3 From the PSR Control Panel, set the TX Mastership to TX Local Control Panel (refer to PSR Control
Panel Technical Manual).
4 On the TX LOCAL CONTROL PANEL Main Menu page, in the OPERATION section, check the
STATUS (see Fig. 4.3.1 ) is set to MAINTENANCE. On the MAIN MENU PAGE of TX LCP,
press EMCON pushbutton;, and wait until the Emission Control Menu is presented.
18 If the FAULTY TRANSISTOR windows reports a number equal to or greater than 2, stop
performing this procedure, and then perform Corrective Maintenance Procedure for corresponding
Driver HPA Module (1 or 2) (see Proc. 6.12 ).
19 If step 19) check result returns one failure or warning condition, then stop performing this procedure,
and perform Troubleshooting Procedure for Driver Assembly on the base of Fault Symptoms
detected (see Para. 5.2 ).

PROCEDURE
1 If the Transmitter is Switched OFF, perform steps 1) to 7) of the TX Switch ON procedure (see
Proc. 2.29 ).
2 Identify the Blowers Control Panel No. 1 through No. 4 (see Fig. 4.4.1 ).
3 On the Driver Assembly (A2), on up Blower Control Panel (A2A1) (see Fig. 4.4.2 ) check:
- Power On Toggle switch is set to ON
- PWR ON indicator is set to ON
4 If the PWR ON indicator is set to OFF, then perform Troubleshooting Proc. 5.27 .
5 On the Driver Assembly (A2), on Up Blower Assembly (A2A1) (see Fig. 4.4.2 ), check:
- F1-F12 fuses lamps are set to OFF
6 If one or more F1-F12 Fuses are set to ON (white light), then for each fault Fuse, perform the
replacement of the Blower Assembly Luminous Fuse procedure Proc. 6.7 .
7 Repeat steps 3) to 6) for the down Blowers Control Panel of the Driver Assembly (A2A4) and for
all Blowers Control Panel of the Amplifier Assembly (A1A12, A1A13).

PROCEDURE
1 If the Transmitter is Switched OFF, perform steps 1) to 7) of the TX Switch ON procedure (see
Proc. 2.29 ).
2 On the Amplifier Assembly (A1) and Driver Assembly (A2), identify the HPA Modules (see Fig.
4.5.1 ) and Fig. 4.5.2 ).
3 Connect the Digital Multimeter across VTEMP test points (see Fig. 4.5.3 ) located on the HPA front
panel of the HPA N°1 of the Amplifier Assembly (A1) (see Fig. 4.5.1 ).
4 Set the Digital Multimiter Measure voltage level with 0.05V resolution, at least.
5 Calculate the HPA module internal temperature by means of the algorithm: t° = (Vi x 100)-273.
7 if the Temperature is > +60°C , then check the Alarm led status on HPA modules on TX LCP.
8 If any HPA Alarm status is set to ON, then perform the Replacement of the HPA module procedure
Proc. 6.7 .
9 Connect the Digital Multimeter across V MAIN test points (see Fig. 4.5.3 ) located on the HPA
front panel.
11 If the voltage is out of +36V ± 15% interval, then perform the Replacement of the HPA module
procedure Proc. 6.7 .
12 Record the achieved values onto equipment log book for defining performance trend.
13 Repeat steps 3) to 12) for all the other HPA modules of the Amplifier Assemply (A1A2-A8) and for
Driver HPA Modules (A2A6,A2A8) of the Driver Assembly (see Fig. 4.5.2 ).
