Aims and objectives of the research interest
As the world grapples with the growing environmental crisis, the field of eco-criticism has
emerged as an important interdisciplinary area of study that seeks to explore the relationship
between literature, culture, and the environment. Eco-criticism examines the ways in which
literary and cultural works can be used to promote environmental awareness and activism,
and to critique our relationship with the natural world. In this paper, I will provide an
overview of the field of eco-criticism and its key concepts and approaches, and explore the
ways in which literature and other cultural forms can be used to address environmental
issues. I will argue that eco-criticism has an important role to play in promoting
environmental sustainability and social justice, and that it offers a valuable framework for
understanding the complex relationship between humans and the environment. Some other
aims and objectives are:
1. To examine the relationship between literature and environmentalism from an eco-critical
perspective: This objective aims to investigate the connections between literature and
environmentalism using an eco-critical approach. It seeks to understand how literature
represents environmental issues and how it can be used to promote environmental awareness.
2. To identify the key themes and motifs in eco-critical literature: This objective involves
identifying the recurring themes and motifs in eco-critical literature, such as the relationship
between humans and nature, environmental degradation, and the impact of technology on the
environment.
3. To evaluate the effectiveness of eco-critical approaches in promoting environmental
awareness: This objective seeks to assess the impact of eco-critical literature in raising
awareness about environmental issues and promoting environmental activism. It aims to
evaluate the effectiveness of eco-critical approaches in inspiring readers to take action to
protect the environment.
4. To analyze the impact of eco-critical literature on environmental policy and activism: This
objective aims to examine the role of eco-critical literature in shaping environmental policy
and activism. It seeks to understand how eco-critical literature has influenced environmental
policy and activism in the past and how it can continue to do so in the future.
5. To develop strategies for incorporating eco-critical perspectives into literary analysis and
environmental education: This objective involves developing strategies for incorporating eco-
critical perspectives into literary analysis and environmental education. It aims to promote the
use of eco-critical approaches in literary analysis and to encourage the integration of
environmental education into the curriculum.
