RULES GOVERNING THE CONDUCT OF THE SECOND SEMESTER 2023/2024

SESSION

1. ADMISSION OF CANDIDATES INTO EXAMINATIONS HALLS


Conditions for Admission
In order to be admitted to any examination of the University, a candidate shall:
(i) Pay all fees prescribed by the senate
(ii) Be duly registered for the course and show evidence of registration using a duly
signed examination card with a stamped passport
(iii) Show his/her university identity card and examination card before admission into
the examination hall

2. CONDUCT DURING THE EXAMINATION


(i) The invigilators must exercise constant supervision over candidates
(ii) Each of the sealed packets of the examination papers shall be opened in the
presence of the candidates
(iii) While the examination is in progress, no person other than the invigilators and
other authorized persons shall be allowed to enter the hall.
(iv) Silence shall be maintained throughout examinations by both invigilators and
candidates
(v) Candidates shall not be admitted into the examination halls after the first 30
minutes of the examinations
(vi) No candidate shall leave the examination hall with the intention of returning
except accompanied
(vii) No candidates shall be allowed to leave the examination hall until the first 30
minutes have elapsed
(viii) Each candidate MUST sign the attendance register at the beginning and end of
each examination
(ix) Upon entering the examination hall, students shall become subject to the
authority of the invigilators and shall act according to the instruction of the
invigilators.
(x) A candidate shall not use any answer booklet or writing paper other than that
supplied in the examination hall
(xi) A candidate shall NOT seek clarification on the meaning of an examination
question from an invigilator or other candidates
(xii) It is the candidate’s responsibility to check that he/she does not have any
unauthorized material or item in the examination. If a candidate discovers that
there is any such material, item or relevant information around him/her, the
attention of the invigilators shall be drawn immediately raising his/her hand
BEFORE the examination begins.
(xiii) A candidate is NOT allowed to borrow anything from a fellow candidate during
the examination. Candidates must come to the examination with all writing
materials and/or calculators if required for the examination
(xiv) All unauthorized materials (such as revision notes, books, school bags and data
tables) and electronic storage and retrieval devices (such as personal organizers,
electronic watches, handsets, programable calculators) shall be left outside the
examination hall or surrendered to the invigilators before entering the
examination hall.
3. EXAMINATION MISCONDUCT AND SANCTIONS
A. The following examination offences attracts a written warning/ cancellation of
paper
(i) Speaking or engaging in any conversation during the examination
(ii) Writing before commencement or at the expiration of the time allowed for
the paper
(iii) Unauthorized change of seat and refusal to change seats when instructed
(iv) Lending or borrowing of authorized materials amongst students in the
examination hall without the approval of the invigilators
B. Rustication for one semester
(i) Writing on a question paper or scrap paper
(ii) Smoking in the examination hall
(iii) Connivance with ICT staff to manipulate registration in order to sit for an
examination for which the student is not qualified
(iv) Repeat of the offenses in 3A above

C. Rustication for two semesters


(i) Incomplete submission or mutilation of answer scripts
(ii) Coping or attempting to copy the work of another candidate including projects,
SIWES report, etc
(iii) Writing project, reports, etc on behalf of another student
(iv) Plagiarism

D. Expulsion from the University


(i) Possession and/or use of foreign material in the examination hall
(ii) Non submission of answer scripts
(iii) Impersonation at the examination
(iv) Exchange of relevant materials in the examination hall
(v) Leakage of examination paper
