 With the power off, hold down the power button until the beeper sounds three times. Then release it. This will begin the service test print.
 The printer will continue to print until the resume button is pressed or the printer is turned off. The page count is the second number listed below the
version number.

Cleaning the BJ cartridge


If the printed image is blurred or if a print defect occurs, such as white streaking, print a test pattern to see if the BJ cartridge is clogged with ink. If nozzles are
clogged with ink. Follow the instructions below.
1. Turn the printer on.
2. Hold down the resume button until the beeper sounds twice.
The cleaning will start and the power indicator will blink. When the cleaning is finished, the power indicator will light.

Self Test
The printer has built-in self-test functions that can be executed without connecting to a computer. After turning on the printer, hold down the power button
until the beeper sounds the specified number of times. Release the button. The self-test printout stops when the resume button is pressed or when the
printer is turned off.

Demonstration pattern print 1 time
Status information print 2 times
ASCII character print 3 times
Nozzle check print 4 times
Caution: Do not use any paper with a width of less than that of the A4-size paper.

Waste Ink Full


Waste ink full is detected with the total waste ink absorption amount recorded in the EEPROM. When the ink absorber is replaced, the data on the total waste
ink absorption amount in the EEPROM must be reset. Furthermore, when the logic board is replaced, the new logic board's EEPROM must be reset and the
waste ink absorber must be replaced.
1. While holding down the power and resume buttons, connect the AC power cord to the printer. Release the buttons.
2. Press the power button while holding down the resume and cartridge buttons.
3. Select the default setting by pressing the cartridge button for the specified number of times shown in the table below. (The beeper sounds each time the
cartridge button is pressed.)

1 time Green Table 2 (USA/LQ): Factory default setting for USA/Canada model
2 times Orange Table 2 (USA/BJ)
3 times Green Table 3 (Europe, Asia/LQ): Factory default setting for the models excluding USA/Canada model
4 times Orange Table 4 (Europe/BJ)
5 times Green Table 5 (Asia, UK/BJ)
4. Press the resume button. The EEPROM is cleared and the selected default setting is written into the EEPROM.
5. Disconnect the AC power cord.
