Goals & Challenges
As I start this course, I am so excited about what I expect to learn as well as what I expect to
accomplish. First of all, I want to get more insight into the question area which I am sure will
improve my problem solving abilities. All these skills are pertinent in the academic arena and
especially in the working environment since problem solving is an essential tool in today’s
workplaces. In addition, I feel that I might benefit from knowing in what circumstances it would
be appropriate to employ the ideas that we are introduced to here in order to gain an appreciation
of practical application of our subjects.
However, with the enthusiasm I have for my mini project, there are few worries that I intend to
address. There are few things that I am concerned with, but one that stand out is management of
time. These can at times be time consuming and combining them with other activities like work
or family responsibilities can be quite a task. I am also worried about speed issues because speed
determines your interactions; especially if you find yourself behind you can easily be outrun
which will affect your overall performance. To counter these I intend to be organized and
activeness to ensure that adequate time is spent studying and doing assignments as scheduled.
A little about me—I am focused in an Associate’s degree and my major is [insert major here]. I
opted to study this major because I love [insert valid reason that is related to the particular major
for instance, bringing change to societies and organisations, solving intricate puzzles and the
likes]. This is my first positive attitude that I develop towards this course, because from the
syllabus of this course, it appears as if the course is going to be quite challenging, yet quite
rewarding. Talking about the expectations, let me admit that I am expecting the discussions and
everything that the course can teach me to be rather interesting.
In particular, I am going to ensure that I take an active participation in the class activities and
discussions as a way of ensuring that I get the grade I want. Participation is the prime method
through which comprehension is done hence the need to contribute in discussions and ask for
clarification where necessary. Moreover, I will attend office hours and create study groups with
the fellow students in order to discuss and assimilate the information that is given in class more
effectively.
By my standards, an “A” essay is one that has a clear organization, proper research, and good
and proper development of the points being made. Such features include a clear thesis statement,
proper arguments and the use of clear, and valid evidence. In addition, writing an “A” essay
requires students to think critically, come up with their own ideas and show a mastery of a given
subject matter. It is also a must to follow the specified format and citation style as a way towards
achieving a standard academic paper.
To achieve these objectives for this course, I want to perform well academically in order to
obtain a good grade as well as attain mastery of the course material. I plan for its knowledge to
become part and parcel of my future educations studies and work. Being an aspiring scholar, one
has a vision of making an impact through research and also innovation. From this course I am
confident that I will gain the knowledge and skills that will enable me to continue in my goal of
pursuing these aspirations.
