Objectives Special attention should be observed based on the following considerations:
 design process principles

 interior space programming and detailed proximity analysis
Introduction The name of the foundation is called the AJ Kalinga Foundation Inc. It is named
after St. Arnold Janssen, S.V.D. (5 November 1837 – 15 January 1909). St. Arnold is
the founder of three religious congregations, namely the Society of the Divine Word,
Missionary Sisters Servants of the Holy Spirit, and Holy Spirit Adoration Sisters. Before
the foundation was registered as a non-profit organization with the SEC in 2017, the
Arnold Janssen Kalinga Center has already been established in 2015 by a young SVD
priest, Fr. Flaviano L. Villanueva, SVD. For the Center, KALINGA is an acronym for the
programs offered by the center: Kain-Ligo-Nang-Ayos. Then in 2017, Fr. Villanueva
enjoined kind hearted persons to form the Board of Trustees to establish the AJ
Kalinga Foundation Inc. Thus, the foundation was registered with the SEC on March
8, 2017.

The vision of AJ Kalinga Foundation is to have a society where the lives of the
homeless and the wounded are recreated and empowered. Their mission is to
provide dignified, systematic, and holistic care to the homeless and the wounded.

KALINGA is an acronym for the programs offered by the center: Kain-Aral-LIgo-

naNG-umAyos (Eat, Learn, Bathe, to be Well).

Its specific objectives are:

 To contribute in recreating and rebuilding the lives of the poorest of the poor
by creating a culture of care - systematic, holistic, and dignified;
 To explore ways of making the change in the lives of our partners sustainable
through alternative learning systems and skills-building for gainful work; and
 At the community level, to create spaces and opportunities where our
partners will take care of other poor people in their neighborhood like
KALINGA has done for them.

The Center is organized for the homeless and the poor, especially the children, who
are provided with systematic and holistic care:

Problem The current AJ Kalinga Foundation resides at Tayuman St., Santa Cruz Manila. To
Statement expand their reach, the foundation decided to create another branch of the Kalinga
Center at the South to welcome more people who are neglected, abandoned and
forgotten by mainstream society.

The Center, similar to the original location, will be organized for the homeless and
the poor, especially the children, who are provided with systematic and holistic care:

with complete table service; and a shower facility complete with soap and shampoo,
for its members.

The 7 Stations at the Kalinga Center are as follows:

Station 1: Welcoming Station
Station 2: Profiling Station
Station 3: Clothing Station
Station 4: Bathing Station
Station 5: Grooming and Affirmation Station
Station 6: Meals and Bonding Station
Station 7: Sending-Off with a Mission (Kinalinga ka, mangalinga ka rin sa iba ng may

PHASE #2 EDUCATION

EDUCATION – In partnership with the Department of Education, KALINGA’s

Alternative Learning System (ALS) offers its members the opportunity to study again,
and to continue one’s education in a non-formal educational setting. The KALINGA-
ALS program takes place four (4) times in a week; followed by a livelihood and skills
training.

PHASE #3

LIVELIHOOD – KALINGA offers feasible opportunities for livelihood and employment

to those who have shown zealous cooperation and transformation through the
months of being with the KALINGA Center. Phase III is concerned in aiding
them restore their self-worth.

PARTNERS IN MISSION:

On a weekly average, the Center receives 1000 young and old street dwellers where
each person is received with much care and love.

Benefactors and donors are all those who have shared their resources for the benefit
of AJKC’s work and ministry. These resources could either be financial or in-kind
donations.

While AJKC accepts donations, AJKC also has preference in the things donors and
benefactors give. Rice, clothing, shampoo, mats, towels and toiletries (paper towels,
sanitary napkins, among others) donations are preferred for Phase IA and Phase IB;
school supplies and other classroom paraphernalia are also preferred donations for
Phase II; Donations for Phase III are dependent on the kind of livelihood activities
AJKC offers at a given time.

Problem The proposed project will be situated in Brgy Maharlika, one of the twenty-eight
Context barangays of the City of Taguig in Metro Manila Philippines. The site is a bustling
residential community in the city. The site is generally flat with an area of approx.
272 sqm. The site is a corner lot with 10.00mtr R.R.O.W at both north and east side
of the lot.

The proponent is planning to maximize the total lot area with consideration of the
site’s classification/occupancy (Residential R-1). A minimum of 10% of the total lot
space will be provided as open space/setback/parking/garden, with the ff setback:

Front Setback: 4.50 mts

Side and Rear Setback: 2.0 mts

Firewall on only one side is permitted provided that it occupies 60% of the total
length of the chosen side. The zoning regulation on building height is restricted to 2-
3 storeys with maximum building height of 15 meters.
