INTRODUCTION

INTRODUCTION

Cadbury was established in Birmingham, England in

1824, by John Cadbury who sold tea, coffee and
drinking chocolate. Cadbury developed the business
with his brother Benjamin, followed by his sons Richard
and George. George developed the Bournvilleestate, a
model village designed to give the company's workers
improved living conditions. Dairy Milk chocolate,
introduced in 1905, used a higher proportion of milk
within the recipe compared with rival products. By
1914, the chocolate was the company's best-selling product. Cadbury, alongside Rowntree's
and Fry, were the big three British confectionery manufacturers throughout much of the
nineteenth and twentieth century’s.

Cadbury was granted its first Royal Warrant from Queen Victoria in 1854. It has been a
holder of a Royal Warrant from Elizabeth II since 1955.Cadbury merged with J. S. Fry &
Sons in 1919 and Schweppesin 1969, known as Cadbury Schweppes until 2008, when the
American beverage business was split as Dr Pepper Snapple Group; the rights ownership of
the Schweppes brand had already differed between various countries since 2006. Cadbury was
a constant constituent of the FTSE 100 on the London Stock Exchange from the index's 1984
inception until the company was bought by Kraft Foods in 2010.

12
Cadbury, formerly Cadbury's and Cadbury Schweppes, is a British multinational
confectionery company wholly owned by Mondelez International (originally Kraft Foods)
since 2010. It is the second largest confectionery brand in the world after Mars. Cadbury is
internationally headquartered in Uxbridge, west London, and operates in more than 50
countries worldwide. It is known for its Dairy Milk chocolate, the Creme Egg and
Rosesselection box, and many other confectionery products. One of the best-known British
brands, in 2013 The Daily Telegraph named Cadbury among Britain's most successful
exports.

TIME OFFICE PAYROLL OFFICE

17
TIME OFFICE:

Time Office consists of manpower planning, leave management, shift management, overtime
management, reporting tool and employee self-help application. It is configurable to suit even
most unique time office requirements and work-flows. It is seamless multi-location system.

Time management:

Typically this module is used to track time spent on projects or specific activities. Consulting
firms such as audit firms, specialist doctors, etc., who manage critical projects require a robust
time management module for tracking time and at times this data may also be used for billing
clients.

Attendance:

Maintaining attendance is crucial to help you do well as an employee as well as allows you to be
in good standing with your employer. Being present and on time helps you strengthen your work
credibility and work history. If you are absent or tardy consistently it could affect your current
employment and hinder any future job opportunities.Attendance not only affects you, but it can
create extra work for your co-workers and put a burden on your employer.

Leave management:

In every organization, employees are entitled to take a certain number of leaves such as privilege
or annual leave, casual leave, sick leave, holiday, etc.If the software has leave management
feature, HR can directly credit these leaves to the account of every eligible employee. As and
when required, the employee can apply for leave through the system. A good system should also
be able to define a workflow to notify the employee’s manager for either approval or rejection.
Robust payroll software with built-in leave management feature can help attain accurate payroll.

18
Over time management:

Overtime is the time worked beyond an agreed workweek. Overtime can wreak havoc on the
operating budget of companies. It therefore needs to be handled with care. To prevent excessive
overtime, organizations set monthly cap on overtime hours. In many of them, a few number of
employees makes up for the biggest share of total overtime. Such a disparity should raise a red
flag because people who routinely log more hours are candidates for fatigue-related errors.

• Payroll work is very crucial task single mistakes can happen faster than you think. For a
moment, think about the employees for whom monthly salary is the only source of income.
Imagine what if the salary is not paid accurately or there is a delay in releasing salary. Such
irregularities can take a toll on the morale of the employees and ultimately affect the company
productivity.

• While ensuring accurate and timely payment of salary is important, follow to the various
laws and regulations such as labor law, PF, PT and other statutory compliance is also critical. If
not follow with these laws can attract serious legal and financial consequences.

• To make sure that your employees are happy and you are law compliant, you need to
have a proper understanding of what payroll is and how to run payroll effectively.

Payroll is a list of employees who get paid by the company. Payroll also refers to the total
amount of money employer pays to the employees. As a business function, it involves:

• Developing organization pay policy including flexible benefits, leave encashment policy, etc.

• Defining pay slip components like basic, variable pay, HRA, and LTA

• The actual calculation of gross salary, statutory as well as non-statutory deductions, and arriving
at the net pay

• Releasing employee salary

• Depositing dues like PF, Subsidy , tax deduction etc. with appropriate authorities and filing
returns

In short, we can say that payroll process involves arriving at what is due to the employees also
called as ‘net pay’ after adjusting necessary taxes and other deductions.
