ACTIVITY PROPOSAL

I. Title of the Activity: Reproduction of Teaching and Learning Resources of

Alternative Learning System (ALS) FY 2024

I. Date & Venue: Padre Burgos National Technical Vocational High School
/ December 2024

III. RATIONALE

Alternative Learning System (ALS) provides opportunities for out-of-school

youth and adult (OSYA) learners to develop basic and functional literacy skills and to
access equivalent pathway to complete basic education.

The Alternative Learning System (ALS) offers a flexible and accessible

pathway to education, catering to individuals who have not completed formal
schooling or who require additional learning opportunities. By implementing ALS
within the Department of Education (DepEd), we can bridge educational gaps for
out-of-school youth, provide a second chance for adults who missed formal
education, and promote lifelong learning through skill enhancement and personal
development. ALS also supports inclusive education by accommodating diverse
learners and offering flexible learning modalities. Additionally, it contributes to
community development by empowering individuals and strengthening the
workforce, ultimately aligning with national education goals of providing quality
education for all and fostering a lifelong learning society.

Several DepEd Orders support the implementation of ALS, such as DO 13, s.

2019, which outlines the policy guidelines for the Enhanced Alternative Learning
System 2.0, and DO 28, s. 2022, which provides guidelines for the release and
utilization of program support funds for ALS. These DepEd Orders, among others,
underscore the importance of ALS as a vital component of the Philippine education
system. By strengthening the implementation of ALS, DepEd can significantly
contribute to the educational advancement of the Filipino people, promoting social
mobility, economic growth, and national development.

A crucial aspect of ALS implementation is the reproduction of learning

materials. Specifically, LR materials, such as Self-Learning Modules (SLM), Learning
Activity Sheets (LAS) and modules, are essential for providing quality education to
ALS learners. By ensuring the availability of sufficient and high-quality learning
materials, DepEd can enhance the learning experience of ALS learners and improve
their overall outcomes.
