1. My Last day at school

"The journey of a thousand miles begins with one step"

School life is the golden(‫ )سنہرا‬age of every student's life. Over time, a student
begins his journey slowly, gradually reaching his end. This era(‫ )زمانہ‬is always full of
golden memories. It is a universal law that every beginning has an end.

At last, the time came when I had to say goodbye to my wonderful (‫ )حیران کن‬school
life. I was very sad and overwhelmed at the time of departure. The feeling of
separation always brings sadness. That kind of emotion(‫ )جذبات‬overwhelmed me
and my classmates on our last day at school.
"No matter how much you hate school; it will still be in your memory."

I remember it was the last week of March when we were told that we were going
to have a farewell party the next day and that day would be our last day at school.
The next day, I got dressed and left for school.

entertained the audience with his sarcastic ghazel. Then some tenth graders
presented a humorous (‫ )آمیز طبع‬sketch that was well received and applauded.

photographs were taken. After a while, I said goodbye to my friends and returned
home with a heavy heart but with bright intentions for the future and bright eyes.

Games and sports are important for every human. It keeps us fresh and fit. So

“Home is where our story begins…”

My mother always said, “The best things in life are free”. I believe that the only
thing that really makes a house is the family that lives there. In this essay, I am
going to show you why my family means so much to me more than any other thing
and why this is the house that I want to live my whole life in.

it when she moved in, and we've added lots of stuff since then. It's a good place to

to decide which things are more important. I'm not sure where my house came
from.

Courtesy means showing politeness (‫ )خلقی خوش‬and gentleness(‫ )شرافت‬in one’s
behavior while dealing with people in our daily routine. Dealing with proper
manners and polite behavior is a social(‫ )سماجی‬proper act.

For instance, showing respect for others, apologizing (‫ )مانگنا معافی‬when you do
something wrong to someone, respecting the needs of others and being kind to
someone are the best examples of courtesy. In simple words courtesy is a polite

our dealings with others.

person cannot be both kind and rude(‫ )كھردرا‬in his behavior at the same time. Devil
(‫ شیطان‬was punished from God not because of lack of information and knowledge
but because of ill manners. The subject of courtesy is to make people being
conscious about their actions that are being watched by Divine(‫)ربانی‬.

environment and daily life. It is an old saying that Health is Wealth. But actually
health is for preferable (‫ )ترجیح قابل‬to wealth. Much pleasure and happiness is
possible having health but not wealth, but really bad health destroys all possibility
of enjoying one's wealth. Even then millions of people destroy their health in the
pursuit of wealth and it is very strange(‫)عجیب‬.

food.

Regular exercise is as important as balanced nutrition. A person who exercises

depression(‫ )پريشانی‬and allows us to have a relaxed life style.

Proper sleep is a key to maintain good health. It is an old saying;

Early rising is a good habit. An early rises enjoys good and sound health and works

‫) راضی‬. The golden principal of "Early to bed and early to rise" is especially necessary
for young people who are still growing-late hours are bad for them.

It is the human nature that he wants change. Sometimes staying at one place makes

things in the hopes of obtaining it; some even kill themselves because they cannot

blessing must be maintained to enjoy life.

7. A Rainy Day
“I love the rain. It's my favorite weather.”

Rain is an amazing(‫ )کن حیران‬natural phenomenon which has been there since the
life came into existence(‫ )وجود‬on earth. Water vapors which evaporate constantly
result in the formation of clouds. When the clouds get concentrated(‫ )تعداد کثیر‬with
water they result in precipitation. This cycle repeats itself again and again and the
water bodies of Earth remain flowing with water never gets emptied.

"Rain is grace; rain is the sky condescending to the Earth. Without rain there
would be no life."

washes away all that is bad. Rain is much more than the people give credit to. It is
a life giver, a life saver. It fills the rivers, fuels the streams and enters the ocean in
waves. It is fascinating(‫)دلکش‬, nurturing(‫ )پرورش‬magical and calming(‫)سکون‬.

unbearable(‫ )برداشت ناقابل‬heat is washed away by the rain water. Rain no doubt is a

source of life. Water is the sign(‫ )عالمت‬of life. Rain provides water to all living things
plants, animals, humans and even insects. It is a nature of life and life can never
exist in its absence.

Everything that has an advantage has a drawback(‫) کمی‬. Rain which can provide
existence and subsistence can also cause mayhem(‫)عمل‬. In contrast to the fact that
rain is a life giver it is also cause of chaos(‫ )تباہی‬and destruction. Rain can destroy
accommodations(‫)گاہیں رہائش‬, fields, crops and shelters. It can result in devastating
(‫)کن تباہ‬floods, hurricanes(‫ )آندھی‬and storms. It can wipe away anything that comes
in its way. It can be a blessing as well as a curse(‫)لعنت عذاب‬.

"Some people feel the rain others just get wet."

It was an average sizzling(‫ )آواز کی چھن چھن‬and burning day of July. Everyone was
exhausted, tired and worn out due to the intense(‫ )شديد‬heat. The sky was brilliant
blue due the ever bright sun. There were no signs of clouds or shade. The garden
blazing(‫ )دار شعلے‬sunlight had heated up everything. The plants were dried and
drooped as the heat had sucked all the life from them. Heat was steaming(‫کی لہر‬
‫ )چلنا میں شکل‬out of everything. The animals had all lied down, nearly fainted(‫)نڈھال‬.
The temperature was baking and the hot air was blistering.

All of a sudden the clouds started gathering in the sky. The golden sunlight
disappeared and everything became silvery grey. The sky turned into a shade of
purple and blue. Vivid (‫)شوخ‬flasher of lightning appeared which were followed by
the roaring sound of the' thunder and it started raining abruptly(‫)سے اچانک‬.

The sound of the downpour(‫ )بارش تیز‬was pleasing to the ears. Everything came
into life once again. The water washed the signs of heat and warmth. The plants
that seemed lifeless and inert were dancing in the rain. Their leaves turned into
the most radiant shades of green. Everyone was glad and delighted. All the

sorrows(‫ )غم‬and sadness faded away. The rain was completely unexpected but no
one minded the inconvenience in the absence of umbrellas. Soaked(‫ )گیلے‬clothes
and wet shoes didn't bother anyone. The rain had brought happiness to the heat
stricken people.

The street (‫ )لڑکے شرير‬were having a great time. Children were playing in the
streets, floating boats on the sides of roads where the water was flowing fast. In
no time, the whole city was drenched in rain water.
The roads and streets became lakes and streams. Everything looked shiny(‫)چمکدار‬
and brilliant. Everyone was enjoying every drop of the rain. Gradually it started
raining cats and dogs but the beautiful scene that the nature had created was
breathless.

I was peeping out of the window, observing the marvelous and majestic(‫)شکوہ پر‬
rainfall. I was listening to the crickets chirp and the frogs croak. The rain continued
for an hour or two and then the sky became clear-again. The birds came out of
their nest and the animals out of their shelter(‫)گاہ پناہ‬.
Everything was shiny and crystal clear. Then out of nowhere, the stunning
miraculous(‫ )معجزہ‬and awe inspiring rainbow appeared in the sky. It was like
someone had painted an arc of seven brilliant colors in the sky. The sight was
magical.
"Do not be angry with the rain; it simply does not know how to fall upwards"

My dad called everyone in the lounge. He had planned for a picnic. We all became
very excited(‫)جوش پر‬. We started packing everything we needed. My mother baked
some cookies, cakes, biscuits. In no time, we were ready and set out in the car. We
also bought some fast food on our way to the park. The park was crowded with
families. Children were playing in the puddles(‫ )پانی بند‬and swinging on the swings.
We found a dry spot and sat down. We took a lot of pictures. Played with each other
and ate the delicious(‫ )مزيدار‬food joyfully. We enjoyed ourselves, and spent the day

with full zest(‫ )مزہ‬and zeal because we all know that it does not rain every day and
every day is not a rainy day.

8. A Scene at Railway station

A railway station is an interesting(‫ )دلچسپ‬place. It is a human museum or a fair of
human faces. Yesterday, I went to the Railway Station to see off(‫ )ديکھنے‬my friend.
We reached there half an hour earlier than the time arrival of the train.

“A railway station obviously has typical scenes.”

In front of the second class booking window, there was a long queue(‫ )قطار‬of
passengers. They were waiting for their turns to get tickets. When the window
opened, they pushed(‫ )دينا دھکا‬one another. An old man fell. At once a policeman ran
for his help. he saved him from being crushed(‫)تباہ‬. He purchased a ticket for him.

At the platform, there was a large number of passengers(‫)مسافر‬. They were waiting
for the train. Some were sitting on the benches. They were talking. The
villagers(‫ )ديہاتی‬were sitting on the floor or on their boxes or trunks. Some gentlemen
were walking up and down the platform.

Every now and then they were looking in the direction of the train. When the distant
signal became yellow, they felt happy. They knew that the train would shortly
arrive(‫)پہنچنا‬. As soon as they caught sight of the engine, they got ready. All stood
up. There was a movement on the platform.

Some people put their bundles on their heads. Others held them under their pits.
Some engaged

coolie for their luggage. Ladies caught hold of the arms of their children.

passengers who wished to get down opened the doors. The other people who were
eager(‫ )تاب بے‬to get into the compartment, tried to get in. there was a great
tussle(‫ )لڑائی‬between them. After a little discussion, the in-going passengers made
way for the outgoing passengers.

There were seats enough for only a few passengers and not for all. Those who got
in got seats or remained standing. Others were running up and down the platform
to find room for themselves. When they failed to get a room in the compartments,
they caught hold of the handles outside some carriages(‫)خرچ کا بردای بار‬. They stood
on the footboards.

“The prospect of a long arduous journey ahead worries the passengers”.

Members of the station staff looked busy with their duties. The ticket collector was
at the gate. He collected tickets to drink. The hawkers went up and down with their
wares. All were busy. After a few minutes, the engine gave a long whistle(‫)بجانا سیٹی‬
and the train left the platform.

Soon there was a signal of the arrival of the train. There was a lot of
commotion(‫)شورش‬. Everybody began to move, catch hold of his luggage and making
way towards their respective compartments. Most of them seemed dejected. In no,
the whole crowd seemed to dwindle away leaving the whole platform almost
deserted.

Soon all were settled. It was time for the train to depart. The guard blew the whistle
and waved the green flag. The engine whistled and the train began to move. There
was waving of hands and handkerchiefs(‫)رومال‬. The train soon gained speed and
left the station.

The worst part of holding the memories is not the pain. It’s the loneliness of it.
Memories need to be shared”.

9. A Hockey Match
“A sound mind is in a sound body”.

Sports are as important in our life as food and education. These are necessary for
our physical growth and mental health(‫)صحت دماغی‬. Though cricket is more popular
in our country, hockey is our national game. Pakistan has won many honors(‫)عزت‬
in this game. We are proud of our great hockey players.

My serene(‫ )لذيز‬town is small, but it enjoys a great reputation(‫ )شوہرت‬as a sports

hub. It is a renowned(‫ )مشہور‬center of hockey in the country. It has produced
numerous(‫ )شمار بے‬leading hockey players of international fame. That is why the
federal government has constructed a magnificent(‫ )شاندار‬hockey stadium in this
area.

“Hockey is a twin sibling of cricket. Those passionate about cricket watch the
hockey match with equal enthusiasm”.

Last year the final match of the school tournament was played on this ground. I was
playing for Government High School. Our rival team was Government Social
Welfare School, better known as Welfare School. We knew that four or five players
of the opponents(‫ )مخالف‬belonged to the families of famous players.

“Practice like you have never won the match; play like you have never lost it.”

Our in-charge and coach had a long discussion the day before. They had fully
analyzed(‫ )کرنا مشاہدہ‬the strong and weak points of the Welfare School team. Each
player of our team was individually instructed(‫ )گیا کیا آگاہ‬about his active role in the
game. Our coach asked us to set up a trap for our opponents. I played as the right
half of my team. I had to be vigilant(‫ )چوکس‬as the rival left out was very quick, and
he was the top scorer of the tournament.

The match started at its scheduled time. I remembered my duty perfectly well. The
opponents were mainly relying(‫ )کرنا گزارہ‬on their left out. Most of the passes were
going to him. Almost every time, I checked the ball before reaching him. The result
was that the Welfare School hockey team could not make the penetration (score a
goal).

“A good player plays where the ball is; a great player plays where the ball is
going to be.”

That frustrated(‫ )ديا تھکا‬them, and two or three more players came this way to
counter(‫ )کرنا سامنا‬me. This was the trap we had laid for them. Now our left out and
left in were almost free. I was working very hard as it was necessary for my team.
In this attempt, I received minor injuries also, but I played with determination(‫پر‬
‫)عزم‬, courage(‫)حوصلہ‬, and persistence(‫)قدمی ثابت‬. This inspired my teammates.

The first half was going to end when I got a chance. I scooped the ball towards our
left out, who was unguarded. Our left out and left in had an understanding.
Together they dribbled (moved with several short kicks) the ball with perfect
accuracy. In this process, they successfully dodged the right full-back and reached
the D. The lone goalkeeper was never in a position to stop these tigers. The result
was the goal. The Welfare School supporters could not believe that. After two or
three minutes, the whistle announced halftime.

In the second half, we changed our policy. We tried to keep the ball with us as much
as was possible. Now we were playing with four forwards. We also kept the ball in
the half of the opponents. That gave us the chance to have more attacks on their
goals.

This plan again worked, and our center forward succeeded(‫ )ہوا کامیاب‬in getting a
short corner. Our left full-back was an expert in converting the penalty corners. In
the D, an indirect pass was given to him that he calmly‫ )سے سکون‬pushed into the
goal.

Now our lead was two to nil. It was enough to demoralize the opponents. So, we
won the final and the trophy. Our captain and in-charge praised our team very
much for our valiant efforts and presence of mind. On this victory, our school
principal announced the next day as the holiday.

take it as the first step to success; the winners will have to struggle more to
maintain it.”

10. A Cricket Match

“Cricket is a game of pressure and team work.”

Games and matches inspire(‫ ) کرنا متاثر‬everyone. I am very much fond of

(‫)شوقین‬witnessing a match and feel much delighted(‫)خوشی‬. The Principal of our
College announced that a match was to be played shortly between our team and

that of the Government College, Multan on our college playground. I eagerly(‫جوش‬

‫ )سے خروش و‬waited for the moment and felt very glad.

“Champions never sleep, the eternal spirit keep them alert and awake.”

At last the day fixed for the match dawned. At 8 A.M. the players of both teams
arrived in their uniforms. A large number of students of both the schools reached in
time to witness the match. The members of the staff also arrived. Everyone looked
at the players of both the teams who appeared to be very smart and active. The
directors of Physical Education of both the teams worked as umpires.

“Punctuality is the first step towards success.”

Suddenly, there was much excitement(‫ )جوش‬amongst the players. The umpire
whistled and the captains of both the teams reached the center of the ground. A
spin of the coin decided the toss. Our team won the toss and our opponents held
the field.

The game started at 8.10 A.M. As soon as the match started there was much

They played well. It appeared that both of them were confident(‫ )اعتماد پر‬of their
success. They were very fine batsmen. They were able to score fifty runs.

“In cricket be fit and be alert.”

Suddenly, one of them was caught out. After that another player of our team moved
forward. He played well and gave a good account of himself. He easily raised our
score to 110 before he was bowled out. As soon as the score was announced(‫اعالن‬
‫)کیا‬, there was wide cheering, whistling and clapping.

had won many medals and merit certificates in cricket. He played so well that he
was able to raise(‫ )کرنا اضافہ‬the score to 199. There was loud cheering as he was still
unfatigued and untired(‫)ہونا نہ ہوا تھکا‬. Thus our score went on mounting(‫)جانا بڑھتے‬
and it reached 212 when the lunch hour arrived and both the teams retired(‫کش کنارہ‬
‫ )ہونا‬for taking lunch.

“Everyone has the fire, but the champions know when to ignite the spark.”

After the lunch, the game started again. Our opponents started playing. The first
two players played so well and they scored 79 runs, but unfortunately(‫ )قسمتی بد‬the
other players did not play well. Their score stood at 154. The team lost control over
the game. The wickets began to fall speedily(‫ )سے تیزی‬one after the other. The next
player was soon bowled out. We witnessed the match eagerly as the time was
drawing to a close. But the last player of the opponent team maintained the balance
and raised their score to 170.

“Mistakes are the best teachers.”

The game was so well played that we felt that we could not easily have a win over
the opposite team(‫)جماعت مخالف‬. We were doubtful(‫ )میں شک‬of our victory. There
were clapping all around and their score stood at 180 when their last player was
caught out. Every face was beaming(‫ )تھا رہا چمک‬with joy. Now there was no hope
of scoring any further run. The opponent team lost the game.

“Failure is your opportunity to revise your strategy.”

The time was over. There was wide clapping and cheering. The captain of our team
was picked up(‫ )اٹھانا اوپر‬by the youth of the college on their shoulders(‫)پر کندھوں‬. To
our greet joy, our team had won the match. But there was so much excitement(‫جوش‬
‫ )خروش و‬and wonder that I could not hear any voice at all afterwards. The deafening
voice of the onlookers stunned(‫ )دينا چکرا‬us and we were feeling an indescribable
pleasure.

It was a red-letter day in the history of our school, as our team had won the match
that was a closely contested(‫ )تکرار‬one. Matches are always played amongst
different teams of the educational institutions, but I never witnessed so much
excitement and a spate of joy in my life as I did on this occasion.

People throw stones at you and you turned them into milestones.

11. A True Muslim

“A true Muslim is one from whose hand and tongue the others are safe”

To be a good Muslim is, indeed a great blessing(‫ )نعمت‬of Allah. The followers of Islam
are called Muslims. A true Muslim is one who follows the teachings of Islam in the
real sense. He is the one who lives his life according to the Sunnah of the Prophet ‫ﷺ‬
and the orders of the Holy Quran.

A True Muslim abstains from any action that is prohibited(‫ )گیا کیا منع‬in Islam.
A true Muslim is clean and pure. It means that a true Muslim is never
contaminated(‫ )ناپاک‬and if he gets contaminated, his first action is to clean himself.

The last prophet of Allah, the leader of the Muslims, has emphasized(‫لفظ خاص کسی‬

neighbor is.

There is no heavy rush of traffic on the roads. but now a day the villages
have carpeted roads too.

The supply of electricity is available in all the villages now except those who
are situated (‫ )ہیں واقع‬in extremely far off remote areas especially on the borderline.
Supply of gas is not available in most of the villages except those who are situated
close to big town or cities.

Sewerage and sanitation conditions in villages are poor. There is no proper

sewerage system. The drains(‫ )نالیاں‬are sometimes blocked and dirty water spreads
in the streets. This condition is also not true for all the villages.

The people of the villages are hospitable(‫)نواز مہمان‬, social and hardworking. They

are healthy, strong and fresh. There is no speedy life in the villages. People live in
big broad houses with joint family system.

They follow their traditions(‫ )روايات‬and culture in full abidance. The people usually
work in the farms and fields. Most of the villagers are farmers or they work their
own private business. Women also work in the field with their male member of the
family. The life of a woman in the village is as busy as that of a man. The people are
not hasty(‫ )تیز‬and they enjoy the life full of taste.

The health and education facilities are not available in all the villages. Although
there is a govt. a primary school in more than 70% of the village yet there is no
quality education institution at the village level.

A large number of students go to nearby cities and town for education daily. The
literacy rate(‫ )شرح تعلیمی‬is lower in villages as compared to cities.

There is not a health center at village levels. There are basic health facilities
available in rural areas at the Union Council level. The villagers have to take a
serious patient to a nearby city to get treatment. Health opportunities(‫ )مواقع‬are
even more in village areas.

There are fresh and healthful fruits and vegetables available in the villages. People
get fewer(‫ )کم‬disease chances when they eat fresh and healthy food. These foods
are many times healthy when compared to fast food in the cities.

‫ )ہوائیں‬in the morning, the colorful fields are really wonderful things to see in rural
areas.
The climate(‫ )ہوا و آب‬is not hard in rural areas. Anyhow the ponds of wastewater and
the heaps(‫ )ڈھیر‬of household garbage provide safe heavens for the
nourishment(‫ )پرورش‬and reproduction of mosquito reproduction which further
causes diseases.

My love of adventure(‫ )ڈالنا میں جوکھوں جان‬is natural to me of course; the degree of
love varies from person to person. My adventuresome one nature promoted(‫)بیٹھانا‬
me and a cousin of mine suggested visiting Murree Hills. Murree, a beautiful valley
situated between the huge mountains of Himalaya range.

It was almost mid of July when we all cousins left for Murree. We enjoyed the

We rested for a while in Rawalpindi and purchased many things of daily needs.

on the waves of cool breeze. And at that time, it seemed as if:

We put up at an old hotel "Sunny View". After having rested there for a while, we
came out to have a view of Murree hills. The valley below hills looked like a great

colors were dancing in cool breeze and looking so beautiful, as the poet says;

"See how the flowers as at parade, under colors stand displayed."

Next day, we walked to Kashmir point and enjoyed ourselves with its scenic beauty.
When it was dark, we made for our hotel. A gentle shower of rain began to fall.
When it started-tipping it down, it also created a musical sound and that was the
beauty and music of nature. After a while, it started raining cats and dogs and
continued till late at night, but when it was dawn, the rain stopped.

After our breakfast, we went out to see Salami Sanatorium. Salami is a beautiful
spot situated in a fine valley. There are fruit garden on slopes. On our way back, we

chair-lift. It was an interesting ‘experience. Running clouds, blowing breeze and
bird eye view of Murree Hills. It seemed like a dream.

In our ten days visit of Murree Hills, we enjoyed hiking, and did a lot of shopping
from Murree Mall. These moments are unforgettable for me. Those days were

e Azam, Muhammad Ali Jinnah. I like him because of his marvelous(‫)شاندار‬

Muslims of the sub-continent from the cruel slavery(‫ )غالمی‬of the Hindus and
imperialism (‫)توسیع کی برطانیہ‬.

The Quaid e Azam was born in Karachi on the 25th of December, 1876, in a well-off
merchant family. He received his early education in Karachi. His father, Poonjah
Jinnah, wanted to give him a good education to his son and kept him away from the
business.

At the age of sixteen, on passing the matriculation examination, he went to England

and studied law at Lincoln’s Inn. After four years, he returned as a Barrister and
started his practice in Karachi. Then, he shifted to Bombay. Within a short time, he
became a distinguished lawyer.

“Success, remember, is the reward of struggle”.

In those days, Indians were struggling (‫ )کرنا کوشش‬for freedom. He decided to take

elected to the Indian Legislative Council.

He joined the Muslim League in 1913 and tried to establish a working relationship
between the Hindus and the Muslims. He was called the “Ambassador of Hindu
Muslim unity”. But, he was disillusioned (‫ )کرنا دور فہمی غلط‬very soon.

He realized that the Indian Congress was not sincere for the cause of the Muslims.
He was convinced that Hindu-Muslim unity was not possible. So, he decided to leave
the Indian National Congress.
