Anyway, I have a question for you… How do you surf the Internet? Have you experienced
exploring the vastness of information and magical wonders of what internet connection can
offer?

Internet connection is one of the essential channels to connect, communicate, and create
ideas all may be done in a single sitting. Today’s generation finds it handy or easy to use
computers, laptops, tablets, cellphones, or any gadgets and other devices to connect and
explore the Internet. Moreover, in just clicks away, you are far beyond the limits of knowing
loads of information and animated motions.

As a student, an internet connection is a great help to aid you in your studies and other
questions in life. Yet, you have to
be very cautious and disciplined to click any information that may harm or poison your mind
with fake news or wrong information.
I am sure you will be very careful in using the Internet and be adventurous in an ethical and
wise way!

• Lesson objectives:

After going through this lesson, you are expected to:

1. define search engine;
2. enumerate and identify the different search engines commonly used;
3. use search engines in finding information and resources.

• Motivation (5 mins.):
Before we proceed with today’s lesson, let’s first have an activity. This activity is
called “Browse and Name It!”
Browse means to surf, to look or to have a glance. Now, what you are going to do is to look
or have a glance on the pictures that I will flash on the screen one by one and you have to
name it or label the logo or application it represents. I will only give you 5 seconds to guess
its name. Raise your hand if you know the answer. The first one who got the correct answer
will be given a price. Are you ready? Let’s begin!

What do you think is a search engine?
➢ A search engine is a website through which users can search internet content.
➢ A search engine is a software program that helps people find the information they
are looking for online using keywords or phrases. Search engines are able to return
results quickly – even with millions of websites online – by scanning the internet
continuously and indexing every page they find.
➢ A search engine is a program that searches for and identifies items in a database
that corresponds to keywords or characters specified by the user. It is used mainly for
finding particular sites on the World Wide Web.

• Review (5 mins.):

Good morning once again dear students, you know it is our usual practice to have a review
as we start our class discussion. So, let’s do the recap! Who among you could still
remember our previous lesson? What was our lesson all about? Could you still remember
the Five Key Active Listening Techniques? What are those Five Key Active Listening
Techniques?

➢ Our lesson was all about the Listening Strategies.

➢ The Five Key Active Listening Techniques are: Pay Attention, Show That You're
Listening, Provide Feedback, Defer Judgment, Respond Appropriately
➢ (Answers may vary)

1. define search engine;
2. enumerate and identify the different search engines commonly used;
3. use search engines in finding information and resources.

Lesson Proper:
From the activity that we have, again what do you think is our lesson for today?
➢ Our lesson for today will be all about The Search Engines.
B. Analysis ➢ (Answers may vary)
➢ A search engine is a web-based tool that enables users to locate information on the
World Wide Web.
➢ (Answers may vary)

Do you have any idea about the most popular or most commonly used search engines? What do you think are
they?

To know more about them, let us do the following task. I want you to do it by pair.
Please find your partner you may have your seatmate or your friend or someone you are comfortable with.

• Review (5 mins.):

Good morning once again dear students, you know it is our usual practice to have a review
as we start our class discussion. So, let’s do the recap! Who among you could still
remember our previous lesson? What was our lesson all about? Could you still remember
the Five Key Active Listening Techniques? What are those Five Key Active Listening
Techniques?

➢ Our lesson was all about the Listening Strategies.

➢ The Five Key Active Listening Techniques are: Pay Attention, Show That You're
Listening, Provide Feedback, Defer Judgment, Respond Appropriately
➢ (Answers may vary)

1. define search engine;
2. enumerate and identify the different search engines commonly used;
3. use search engines in finding information and resources.

➢ A search engine is a web-based tool that enables users to locate information on the
World Wide Web.
