Class Attendance:
Class attendance is strongly recommended. Students are allowed not to attend the class
up to 4 sessions. Not attending the class beyond four sessions will impact the instructor
evaluation.

• Temperature and Zeroth Law of Thermodynamics
• Pressure scale and hydrostatic pressure head, barometer and manometer
• PVT phase diagram, state change and thermodynamic process
• Use of Thermodynamics property tables
• Ideal gas law and generalized compressibility charts
• Work and various type of it
• Heat and first law of thermodynamics- closed system
• Introduction of internal energy, enthalpy, and constant pressure and volume heat
capacities
• First Law of Thermodynamics and its applications
• Thermal reservoirs, heat engines, refrigerators and heat pumps
• Second Law of Thermodynamics
• Isothermal, adiabatic/isentropic processes
• Entropy of pure substances
• Entropy change of liquids and gases and isentropic relations of ideal gases
