Attention Getter: Imagine a time where you had low energy and lack of food
resources. Did you feel soreness in your muscles and tightness in your stomach. Now imagine if
you were to feel this discomfort every single day. In the last month, how often did you eat or
drink traditional foods.
Topic: In a world where you can walk to your nearest fast-food restaurant. It is easy for people to
forget about food insecurity. People define hunger as discomfort or weakness caused by the lack
of food. For example, some families in London Ontario, identical food items cost on average of
1.6 more at convenience stores than others compared with supermarkets, and residents of low-
income neighborhoods have very limited access to groceries stores.
Relevance/ Importance to Audience: This is not just a international thing, there could possibly be
people living in your community with lack of food.
Credibility: I have done a lot of research and I would like to share these findings with you also I
have family members who have experienced this.

1.) Need Step: The problem is not the lack of food but the lack of availability. It affects people
life, socailly, economically.
A. When I accessed this article” First nations food environment”: Exploring the role of
place,income, and social connection.

lifestyle related, noncommunicable conditions.
2) Indigenous Organizations will search for solutions that will not only improve health outcomes
for their clients but also support cultural resurgence, is a shining example of what is possible.
B. According to” First nations food environment”: Exploring the role of place, income, and
social connection.

reserve-based respondents respectively.

C. In the introduction of First Nations food environment”: Exploring the role place, income, and
social connection
Gokhale3
1) According to First Nations food environment”: Exploring the role of place, income, and social
connection. Although the dominant barriers to consistently accessing healthy foods--time and
money are slightly different in each community both pose risks for a healthy diet.
2)In Canada Close to half (54% and 52%) of the urban- and reserve-based samples reported that
they eat traditional foods at least once a week, and respondents from both groups (76% of urban-
and 52% of reserve-based respondents) expressed interest in consuming traditional foods more
often.
