A. Preparation

NOTE: MIL-PRF-29608 Class L is also an acceptable contact cleaner.

(2) Aircraft Preparation
(a) Remove electrical power from aircraft.
B. Inspection
(1) Disconnect electrical connector to be inspected.
NOTE: For specific instructions and examples see Inspection Guidelines for Electrical
Connector Corrosion, GER-0130.
(2) Inspect for evidence of corrosion inside and outside connector plug and receptacle.
CAUTION: USE CAUTION WHEN USING SOLVENTS DUE TO ITS FLAMMABLE
PROPERTIES.
(3) Clean matting surfaces using contact cleaner.
NOTE: Before using solvents, consult Materials Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) for special
precautions or warnings.
Use and acid brush as necessary, to brush away existing oxidation / corrosion.
(4) Allow connector plug and receptacle to air dry.
(5) Examine connectors plug and receptacle to ensure no evidence of corrosion remains.
NOTE: If necessary use a 10X magnifying glass for clarity.
If corrosion could not be removed, or evidence of pitting through the plating into
substrate material is detected, connector / harness should be replaced prior to
sealing.
(6) Proceed with connector sealing. See Electrical Connector - Corrosion Prevention, 20-28-00,
Maintenance Practices.
C. Follow On
(1) Inspect for presence of foreign objects.
(2) Record all maintenance actions in accordance with current governing authority.
