1- Early Middle Ages lasted from the 5th to the 10th century

Last Middle Ages lasted from 10th to 15th century

2- Which are the differeces between Early and Last Middle Ages? During the Early
Middle Ages nobility and clergy had a lot of power, agruculture and cattle
raising were solely a means of sostenance and people lived on fiefs but during
the Last Middle Ages the monarchy takes the power back, there is an
increment of production and comercial activity, there is a resurgence of the
cities that become the new economic center

3- Tell us about the activities developed by knights. Warfare was very common,
the importance of knights derives from this fact as they played a key role
defending their king and noble. Knights were taught fighting skills and were
trained with all sorts of weapons. They wore a heavy armor and a helmet
wichthe protected them, many Knights were members of the gentry. Apart
from warfare knights also participated in tournaments and jealous risking their
reputation and prestige

4- Who lived in the castle? The king and the nobleman.

5- What does“Guild” mean? Guilds were associations of artisans of the same


trade.

B) Explain the medieval society. The medieval society were based in a feudal system. Is a
pyramid society, with the king on the top, with lots of power, and ruled over the land,
in the video says that the clergy is on the top too, but in class we said that is in the
middle of the pyramid, with the nobles. Nobles ruled over the lands allocated to them
by the king, they defend the country during warfare. The peasants were on the low
part of the pyramid, their lives were not easy and they had to work a lot. They had to
pay taxes to their lords, if they lived on a fief.
