B. SYSTEM OF UNITS
The system units to be used will be in International Standards Units (SI), wherein all
dimensions are in meter (m) unless specified.
C. MATERIAL PROPERTIES
D. MATERIAL PROPERTIES
The allowable soil bearing capacity of the site can be as high as 125KPa. Contractor
shall conduct the necessary soil exploration to determine the configuration of the soil to
design appropriate foundation of the building.
F. LOAD CASES
Loads are forces or other actions that results from the weight of all building materials,
occupants and their possessions, environmental effects, differential movement, and
restrained dimensional changes. Permanent loads are those loads in which variations over
time are rare of small magnitude. All other loads are variable loads. Below are case in which
loads will be used and classified.
❖ EARTHQUAKE LOADS
The vibratory ground motion caused by earthquake can have damaging effects
on structures and can even lead to collapse. That’s why earthquake provision is
primarily to
design seismic resistant structures to safeguard against major structural damage that
may lead to loss of life and property. Below are the seismic analysis parameters
calculation that has been quoted from
NSCP 2015, Section 208:
EARTHQUAKE LOADS.
o IMPORTANCE FACTOR
Soil Type SD
o SEISMIC COEFFICIENTS
Ca 0.44 Na
Cv 0.64 Nv
o SEISMIC COEFFICIENTS
Cv I 2.5 Ca I
V= ; V not exceed V = W
RT R
Where:
Ca Acceleration-controlled coefficient
Cv Velocity
I Importance factor
R Numerical representative of the
inherent overstrength
T Elastic fundamental period of the
structure in the direction under
consideration
Lower limits for V:

G. LOAD COMBINATIONS
Considering that earthquake load E, is as specified under NSCP 2015 section 208.6.1
which is equal to:
Where:
Assuming:
E v =0.5 CaID
So , Ev=0.5(0.44)(1.0) D=0.22 D
Therefore:
1.4 DL
1.2 DL + 1.6 LLa
1.2 DL + 1.6 LLb
1.42 DL + 0.5 LLa + 1.0 EL
1.42 DL + 0.5 LLb + 1.0 EL
1.42 DL + 0.5 LLa + 1.0 ER
1.42 DL + 0.5 LLb + 1.0 ER
