Write an essay to compare and contrast the women's roles in modern and

traditional society. Pay attention to the use of academic language and a clear text
structure.

The role of women has undergone a profound transformation over the centuries, moving from
being limited by traditional stereotypes to being powerful individuals. While their roles are
similar in terms of family responsibilities, they differ in terms of their position in
society and their rights and equality.

One similarity between modern and traditional women's roles relates to family
responsibilities. In the past, women played the role of connecting and maintaining
close relationships between family members. Likewise, despite the demands of
contemporary professional life, women often continue to take the primary
responsibility for continuing a nurturing domestic environment. For example, their
contributions to family well-being include home cleaning, meal preparation, and
ensuring the health of all household members.

However, there are clearly many considerable differences in the women’s position in
society. In traditional societies, the contributions of female citizens were often
undervalued, and their participation in public life was limited. This is because they
were frequently subjected to outdated norms that restricted their opportunities. In
contrast, modern societies have witnessed a significant shift in women's roles
compared to the past. Women have increasingly entered the workforce, pursuing
careers in various fields and achieving professional success. Therefore, their presence
in public life has expanded through holding positions of power and influence in
politics, business, and academia.

Another significant difference is the women’s rights and equality. While women in
traditional societies were frequently compelled by familial pressures to marry
individuals, they were unfamiliar with, such expectations were rarely imposed upon
men. However, today, awareness of gender equality is increasingly raised. Women
have the freedom to choose their own partners in a situation where both are no longer
dependent on traditional norms. In addition, women currently possess the right to self-
determination, enabling them to shape their own destinies without external influence.

In conclusion, the roles of women have evolved significantly over time. While there are some
similarities, such as family responsibilities, there are significant differences, chiefly in
relation to their position in society and their rights and equality . There is no doubt that
modern society will continue to progress in future, and women can leave behind outdated
stereotypes.
