1. Describe a person you admire.

You should say:

 who the person is
 what he or she is like
 and why you admire him or her.
I'm going to talk about my father because he has been a major influence in my life.
My father was always a good role model for me as I was growing up. He's hard-working, patient and
understanding; he's also got a good sense of humour and seems to get on well with everybody.
Hopefully I've inherited some of these traits.
I admire my father because I think he brought me and my brothers/sisters up well; he was quite strict
but always fair, and he has always been someone I can turn to for advice. I think my father set a
good example by working hard and having a positive outlook on life. I remember that he used to
leave for work early and come home quite late, but he always made time for me and my
brothers/sisters.

2. Describe someone you like in your family. You should say:

o what type of website it is
o What personality he/she has
o Why do you like this person
Admittedly, we all have someone we like most in our family. Personally, I like my father the most and
I consider him as one of my best friends and heroes.
Physically, he is a good-looking man and has a youthful appearance, he is tall with an average body
build and has a fair complexion, and also his pointed nose compliments his black hair, in fact we
have a striking resemblance. I can say that he doesn’t only have the good appearance, but a good
heart too. For me, he is one of the kindest persons I have ever known, for he is willing to give others a
hand without expecting something in return.
Moreover, he is indeed a very patient person, especially in dealing with obstacles in our family, though
he is sometimes strict. Undeniably, he is a glass-half full person, which inspires me the most no matter
how hard the situation we are facing. Lastly, he is my happy pill, for he has a good sense of
humor and self-assured, who always throws jokes; hence he always makes me smile despite some
difficulties I encounter.
Obviously, he is the best father in the world and I like him for a lot of reasons. To start with, he is
my life inspiration, for I have witnessed how he stood still in the midst of the storm in our family.
Second, he is my role model, since he is willing to sacrifice his own happiness for our own sake and
he wants the best for all of us.
3. Describe a teacher you once had who you enjoyed being taught by. You should say
 who this person was
 when they were your teacher
 which subject they taught you
and describe what it was about their character that you liked.
I’d like to describe my English teacher from school … Miss Thomas … this was a few years ago now
and she was my teacher at a time when I was getting a little bored with being at school … unlike some
of the other teachers Miss Thomas never lost her temper … she was very calm and easy-going … she
was also very broad-minded … we were able to ask her questions about lots of subjects that some other
teachers would refuse to discuss which made us respect her even more … she had a great sense of
humour too … she’d laugh at our jokes as well as making us laugh … and she would also bend over
backwards to help us with our work … she always put us first and often stayed around at the end of
class to talk with anyone who needed help … apparently she was highly respected within her field but
you would never know as she was the type that hid her light under a bushel … she was very modest
and self-effacing … so yes … Miss Thomas was a teacher I have fond memories of …
4. Describe a person who knows a lot.
You should say:
 Who is the person
 What kind of person he/she is
 What the person does
 And explain why you think this person is intelligent.
I’m going to talk about Mrs Phuong, who is my smart neighbor. We have been soul mates for about
twenty years, so we know each other inside out. Although she’s getting on bit, she still looks young
and energetic. She has acquired reputation as a benevolent and brilliant person, who earns love and
respect by all children and residents in the community.
I have a great admiration for her because she is such intelligent person. She told me that through school
life, she was always at the top of the class and her GPA stood at 4.0 all the time. I still remember when
I was a little girl, I was always curious about everything surrounding me and asked her a plenty of
questions like “Why the leaves are green”, “What is the difference between the lunar and the solar
eclipses”…. Then, she always gave me a clear demonstration about the natural phenomenon and even
told me more fascinating science stories. Her knowledge is so comprehensive that it totally blows my
mind. Sometimes I wonder why she is so knowledgeable and I have gradually acknowledged that in
her spare time, she usually immerses herself in different kinds of books to acquire knowledge.
I consider her not only as my teacher but also my savior because she always gives me clever solutions
whenever I encounter difficulties. For example, there was one time when I was talking to here, I
felt dizzybecause of suffering from hypotension. And she instantly gave me a bar of chocolate, which
helped to make a speedy recovery. This situation also demonstrates that she is so smart and
knowledgeable.
All in all, I am so grateful for what she has done to me and I treasure this friendship.

5. OK ... I’d like to talk about my aunt ... her name’s Marta and she’s quite a character ... she’s middle-
aged but has a very youthful appearance ... she’s a little overweight I suppose but not too much ... she
has a friendly round face framed by thick blonde hair ... she has a lovely complexion and she’s
always well-turned out ... she actually always looks like she’s going out for the evening to somewhere
special ... there’s never a hair out of place ... I’ve always thought she bears a striking resemblance to
someone on TV ... I can’t remember the name now ... she wears glasses and always seems to have a
different pair on every time I see her ... I like the way she looks because she wears clothes that are right
for her age and manages to look glamorous without it looking like she’s too done up ... yes ... I’ll be
happy if I look like her when I’m her age ...

6. I am going to talk about my mother who has played an essential role in my life. She is my guardian,
my friend and my role model. My mother is in her forties now, but she still maintains a youthful look.
In terms of personality, she is an extremely compassionate and kind-hearted person who always takes
care of her children. She really is a mother and a friend to me as she always gives me valuable advice
and is willing to stand by me through all the ups and downs of my life. Although sometimes she drives
me crazy due to her being a perfectionist, I still hold so much pride and respect for her. I am also
influenced by her strong-will. Ever since she was young, she had to learn to be independent as my
grandparents were very busy and constantly on the go. She had to take care of almost everything: her
younger brother, household chores and herself. Such challenges shaped her into the strong person that
she is now. Her determination, as well as her perseverance, are really something for us to look up to.
And I keep reminding myself every day to be as strong as my mother, a real-life “wonder woman.”
