IMechE ACCREDITED DEGREES

A successful engineering career can start with a foundation involving an IMechE accredited degree and associated professional development. The degrees listed below enable you to know whether you have achieved the required academic standards needed to combine with professional development before becoming a Registered Corporate Member of the Institution (MIMechE). This can be as either, an Incorporated Engineer (IEng MIMechE) or a Chartered Engineer (CEng MIMechE). An accredited degree will either part or fully meet the academic requirements for registration as a Chartered or Incorporated Engineer* and membership of the IMechE. Degrees that part satisfies the IMechEs membership requirement will require additional knowledge gain to reach the current academic benchmark level needed for either IEng or CEng; this is known as Further Learning (F.L). These degrees are in List B and are marked with a date in the column FL required from Intake. (*Please note that accredited BEng (Hons) degrees fully meet the exemplifying academic benchmark requirements for registration as an Incorporated Engineer (IEng). Educational benchmark IEng registration is Bachelors Level knowledge; CEng registration is Masters Level knowledge The lists attached are to assist students looking to go to University this Academic year. The purpose of each list is shown below: List A Accredited degrees that fully meet the academic requirements for membership of the IMechE and registration as an Incorporated or a Chartered Engineer. There are no dates in the FL required column. Accredited degrees that satisfy part of the academic requirements for Corporate Membership of the IMechE. Students admitted to one of these programmes on or after the date shown in the FL required from Intake column will need to undertake further learning (additional study) to meet the educational benchmark to register as an Incorporated or a Chartered Engineer. Degrees submitted to the IMechE for accreditation for the first time or are currently under review following a recent accreditation visit. Please feel free to check with the University or IMechE about the programmes current status.
