ABOUT THE VIRTUAL EVENT
As of June 2020, the Formula Bharat 2021 event had conducted a rules quiz and finalized both a
Registered Teams list and a Waitlist Teams list. It was assumed at the time that hosting a ‘full-scale’
Formula Student event at the designated venue and time in January 2021 would be feasible.
Based on the state of events due to COVID-19, government directives and taking into account the safety
of participants and volunteers, the Formula Bharat organizing team has decided to move the event to a
virtual-web platform.
In order to make a smooth transition into the virtual platform, we have mentioned changes with the
registration, document submission format and deadlines, and other requirements. This transition should
be considered as a continuance of your activities since June 2020 and not a ‘restart’.
The Virtual Event at Formula Bharat 2021 is hosted by Curiosum Tech Private Limited.

REGISTRATION
Team Registration
For teams on the CV Registered Teams list for Formula Bharat 2021:
● Opportunity to continue to register their intent to participate in the Virtual Season for Formula
Bharat 2021 until Tuesday September 15.
○ Total Fees: INR 20,000 + 18% GST. (Since INR 5,000 was deposited earlier in June
2020, remaining due is INR 15,000 + 18% GST on INR 20,000).
○ The fees include complimentary registration for upto 15 team members. Addition of extra
team members will be charged at INR 500 + 18% GST per additional member.
○ Any team on the CV Registered Teams list for Formula Bharat 2021 that does not wish to
proceed into the Virtual Season, will have their ESF reviewed to the original submission
only. Upon notice of withdrawal, the team will receive a tax invoice for the INR 5,000
payment made in June 2020.
For teams on the CV Waitlist Teams list for Formula Bharat 2021:
● Those teams present on the CV Waitlist have the opportunity to proceed to register for the Virtual
Event @ FB2021, provided that the intent to participate is received by Tuesday September 15.
○ Total Fees: INR 20,000 + 18% GST. (Since INR 5,000 was deposited earlier in June
2020, remaining due is INR 15,000 + 18% GST on INR 20,000).
○ The fees include complimentary registration for upto 15 team members. Addition of extra
team members will be charged at INR 500 + 18% GST per additional member.
● Those teams on the Waitlist that do not wish to proceed must email [email protected] with
their bank account details to receive a refund of the amount of INR 5000 deposited in June 2020,
by no later than September 15.
Teams must email their intent to continue or withdraw, to [email protected].
Fee Payment
Upon emailing their notice of intent to continue or withdraw by September 15, the designated Team
Captain will receive a proforma invoice from [email protected]. The team must pay the remaining
amount due by September 30, 2020.
The following payment methods are accepted:

We shall be accepting one transaction towards the fees payment.
Any charges incurred from bounced cheques or failure of transaction, will be invoiced back to the team.
Amounts paid are non-refundable and non-transferrable.
Post-payment towards the registration fee, the team must provide ‘proof of payment’ in the following
manner via the form link here. Please provide as much detail as possible so that we can track your
payment.

Team Members
● Requirements listed from A4.2 until A4.4 from the FB2021 Rules Book apply.
● The registration fees include a complimentary participation of 15 students. A maximum of 45
team members may participate on a team.
● Each team will be required to submit a Team Member Information (TMI) document by December
22, 2020. Only those listed on the document shall avail an e-certificate post completion of the
Virtual Event.
Participation Certificates
● E-Certificates will be provided to participants listed on the TMI.
● Each team shall also receive an E-Certificate.

VIRTUAL EVENT FORMAT
The Virtual Event at Formula Bharat 2021 shall take place Online. This event shall use the following
guidelines to prepare: Formula Bharat 2021 Rules book, specifically the section [T] General Technical
Requirements and [CV] Internal Combustion Engine Vehicles.

remains the same. The format with a few modifications, along with pitch deck requirements is attached at
the end of this document.

Engineering Design Concept Event
Due to the Virtual Event format, the requirements for the submissions and scoring of the Engineering
Design Event, has changed drastically from that mentioned in the FB2021 Rules Book. The revised
format is attached at the end of this document.

Notes:
❖ Unlike a typical Formula Student competition, a physical prototype of the vehicle is not required
for this virtual event, however, it is recommended to present any physical components /
assemblies, if available.
PENALTIES
Group A and Group B penalties as indicated in the FB2021 Rules Book apply. A5.12 Negative Scoring
applies as well.
Penalties for Incorrect File Naming:
● BPPD: 5 points penalty from Business Plan Presentation event
● DSS / EDP: 5 points penalty (each) from Engineering Design event

No-show at the scheduled Q&A session without prior notification, at least 48 hours before time-slot, shall
result in an additional 50 pts deduction from the team’s overall score.

APPENDIX A: BUSINESS PLAN PRESENTATION EVENT
S1 BUSINESS PLAN PRESENTATION EVENT (BPP)
S1.1 Business Plan Presentation Objective
S1.1.1 The objective of the BPP is to evaluate the team’s ability to develop and deliver a
comprehensive business model which demonstrates their product – a prototype race car –
could become a rewarding business opportunity that creates a monetary profit.
S1.1.2 The judges should be treated as if they were potential investors or partners for the presented
business model.
S1.1.3 The business plan must relate to the specific prototype race car entered in the competition.The
quality of the actual prototype will not be considered as part of the BPP judging.
S1.2 Business Plan Procedure
S1.2.1 Prior to the competition, the team must submit a pitch deck and participate in an online web
presentation delivery.
S1.2.2 The top teams are then judged by all business judges in the BPP finals at the competition.
S1.3 Pitch Deck (BPPD)
S1.3.1 To convince the potential investors or partners that the team’s business model is worthy of
their time and investment, it is required that a pitch deck is submitted before the competition. A
pitch deck is a brief presentation document which provides investors with an overview of the
business, the business model, the company vision, the product and the monetization strategy.
S1.3.2 Details on the pitch deck format requirements will be shared on the competition website.
S1.3.3 The pitch deck must be submitted online via the competition website, not later than the
deadline specified by the competition.
S1.3.4 A missing pitch deck submission will forfeit the team’s participation in the prelims. Additionally,
if the judges find the pitch deck to be of ‘poor form’, the judges may choose to cancel the
team’s presentation preliminaries time slot.

S1.4 Presentation Prelims
S1.4.1 The presentation preliminaries shall take place within two months to the competition. Teams
will be provided with an online presentation web link and a first-come-first serve date and time
slot, prior to the competition.
S1.4.2 Presentations are limited to a maximum of ten minutes. The judges will stop any presentation
exceeding ten minutes.
S1.4.3 The presentation will not be interrupted by questions. Immediately following the presentation
there will be a question and answer session.
S1.4.4 One or more team members may present the business plan.
S1.4.5 All team members involved in the BPP must be in front of the screen and must be introduced
to the judges at the beginning of the presentation. The team members who have been
introduced may answer the judges’ questions even if they were not actually presenting.
S1.4.6 Teams that fail to make their presentation within their assigned time period will receive zero
points for the BPP.
S1.4.7 For the online presentation, teams must ensure reliability of internet connection and
positioning of media transmission device for best focus and sound. Lighting of space, choice of
background and external noise must be paid attention to, to avoid interruptions during the
presentation. Teams may choose to switch between live presentation and media display
(PowerPoint, video etc.) at any point, during the course of the presentation delivery.
S1.5 Business Plan Presentation Finals
S1.5.1 The top teams will be judged at the BPP finals at the competition. The teams will be notified at
least a week 10 days before the BPP Finals c ompetition dates.
S1.5.2 The BPP finals will be a public event at the competition.
S1.5.3 Data projectors or screens with VGA or HDMI (type A) input connectors and audio jacks will be
provided for video and audio signal transmission. Teams planning to use other presentation
equipment are responsible for bringing it themselves. The competition organizers shall not be
liable for mishaps that may occur while connecting personal devices to data projectors or other
equipment.
S1.6 Business Plan Presentation Scoring

FORMAT
The Pitch Deck should contain the following format characteristics:
● It should be submitted in a ‘Presentation-type’ format. The final submitted document must be in
.pdf.
● It should contain no more than 12 slides.
● Each slide must contain your Car Number, Team Name and Institution Name.
● All elements listed below. Teams are allowed to change ordering of elements based on the flow
of the pitch deck.

The Engineering Design Concept Event at the Virtual Event for Formula Bharat 2021 consists of
submission of the Design Specifications Sheet and the Engineering Design Presentation, followed by
participation in online Q&A sessions with judges.

D. Engineering Design Presentation (EDP) Deck
Teams are required to create and submit a maximum 20 minute video presentation (or a slide show
presentation with audio background), along with an optional maximum 50-page supporting document.
Teams will present their knowledge and their vehicle concept to the judges, which will evaluate the teams’
performance following the design objectives stated in chapter S3.1 in the FB2021 Rules Book. The
presentation and supporting document will be judged on the engineering conceptual design presented
(content), discussion of thought process, and demonstration, structure and delivery of presentation.
The presentation must be delivered by registered participants only. Audio must be clear (and lighting must
be adequate for video deliveries).
Contents:
1/ EDP:
The EDP must be considered as the team’s design pitch to a senior-level Engineering Design group.
The EDP should contain a brief description of the overall vehicle with a review and derivation of the
team’s design objectives. Any information to scope, explain or highlight design features, concepts,
methods or objectives to express the value and performance of the vehicle to the judges shall be included
at the teams’ discretion.
The EDP must also additionally contain the three drawings (no renderings) showing the vehicle from the
front, the top and the side. Each drawing must appear on a separate slide.

TIP: Do not cram too many slides within a minute of presentation. Try to keep the slides less heavy on
text.
2/ Supporting Document to the EDP *Optional:
The supporting document may contain additional detail such as simulations, calculations, flow charts etc.
that would allow the judges to understand design considerations made, including any further research and
analysis conducted by the team.
To help judges navigate through your material faster, it is recommended to provide:
● Header with Car Number, Team Name, Document Name
● Footer with page number and total number of pages
● A table of contents with page numbers.
● Topics separated by Design Area such as Aero, Chassis, Composites, Ergonomics, Drivetrain,
Suspension, Steering, Wheels and Tires, etc.
● External links to additional information such as extra drawings, calculations, previous tests etc.
● Try to keep your document concise and not too wordy.
Method of Submission:
The EDP must be uploaded on a video sharing platform of your choice (Google Drive, Youtube, Vimeo
etc.) The video link must be publicly accessible. If uploaded on Youtube, the privacy setting of the video
must be changed to 'Unlisted' so that only those with the link can view the video and it will not be
displayed publicly on your channel as well.
There are a few ways for to make a submission of the EDP link via the submission portal:
1. If submitting the EDP along with a supporting document, the first page of your supporting
document must contain a link to the video / audio version of the presentation. Please move the
Table of Contents to the next page. This document must be uploaded as a .pdf.
2. If not submitting a supporting document .pdf, please paste the video link on a blank document
(follow non-template guidelines as per File Formatting Protocol). This document must be
uploaded as a .pdf.

Q&A SESSION
The Q&A (Question and Answer) session is the final and most important event of the Engineering Design
Concept Event. At the Q&A session, judges will have the opportunity to have any concerns or queries that
arose during the part of the review process clarified by participants.
Q&A date and time slots may be selected by participating teams on a first-come-first-serve basis. The
session will include 5 mins sign in and setup, 15 mins of the Q&A session and 5 mins for documentation
feedback. It is recommended that all team members registered attend the online session.
The Q&A session will take place on Zoom. In order to allow judges to spend more time with the teams,
breakout rooms will be made available and they will be divided based on the judging sections. The
organizers will be unable to record these sessions, however the team can enable ‘local recording’ within
their breakout room.
Note on the finals:
If your team has been selected for the finals, please note that the format for the breakout rooms within
Zoom may change. The organizers will share additional details on the same.
