The Circle of Control is concerned with the challenges and concerns

you have in your life or work. Your task is to become aware of these and
where they stand in relation to your own Circles. Start by making a list of
the things that concern you.

Once your list is drawn up, identify the things that are in or out of your
control. Some things, like climate change, pandemics, the economy – are
probably out of your control, there is little or nothing, you can do about
them - they can stay outside of your Circle of Concern.

You may notice that some things that

can’t always be directly controlled, but
you may be able to influence. Once
you list the things for each circle you Circle of Concern
can be very proactive.

You can begin expanding your Circle of

Influence by doing what you can about
some things, instead of passively
waiting for something to change. Circle of Control

From your list, place in each respective circle until your spheres of
control and influence are expanded, (you can use post-its and large
pieces of paper to help you see and move things around).

The tool itself is a way for you to gain control when you feel as though
you have none. It will help you discover that you always have more
power than you think.
