Statement of Purpose
In Pursuit of Excellence: A Journey to Transform the Economy Through Applied Economics
As I sit down to reflect on my aspirations, I am filled with a profound sense of purpose and resolve.
My academic journey, which began at the Institute of Science Trade and Technology, where I
earned my Bachelor of Science in Knitwear Manufacture and Management, has equipped me with
a strong foundation in business and economics. However, it is my growing interest in the broader
economic landscape, particularly in the fields of finance and public finance, that now propels me
to pursue a Master of Applied Economics. This pursuit will enable me to dive deeper into economic
theory and practice, particularly as they relate to public policy and financial systems, with a focus
on their real-world implications.
My name is MD Ahsanul Haque Jewel, and I have always been captivated by the way economic
principles shape industries, governance, and societies. Through my undergraduate studies, I gained
valuable insights into management and business strategy. However, I have come to realize that a
more profound understanding of economics—particularly applied economics—will empower me
to better analyze and solve complex challenges, especially in finance and public finance
economies. The decision to pursue a Master of Applied Economics is a natural step in this journey,
and I am particularly eager to study in China, one of the world’s leading economies and an
emerging powerhouse in financial innovation and public policy.
China's rapid economic development, particularly in the realms of finance and public
infrastructure, presents a wealth of opportunities for students and professionals seeking to
understand the intricacies of applied economics. The nation's influence in global trade, financial
markets, and its ambitious policies such as the Belt and Road Initiative offer an unmatched learning
environment. By immersing myself in China’s dynamic economic landscape, I am confident that
I will acquire the expertise necessary to navigate the complexities of modern economies and
contribute meaningfully to the development of sound economic policies, particularly in the realm
of finance and public finance.
My undergraduate studies and professional experiences have given me a solid grasp of business
fundamentals, but I now seek to deepen my knowledge of economic theory, finance, and the
policies that govern public economies. I am particularly drawn to the research areas of finance and
public finance economy, as I believe these fields are essential for understanding the financial
stability and economic growth of nations. I am particularly interested in how public finance can
be leveraged to promote inclusive growth and sustainability in both developed and emerging
markets.
In contemplating my future career, I envision myself playing a key role in shaping economic
policies that will drive sustainable growth and financial stability, particularly in developing
countries. My long-term goal is to work with government agencies, international organizations, or
financial institutions to design and implement policies that strengthen public finance systems,
promote responsible fiscal practices, and encourage economic growth that benefits all segments of
society. The knowledge and skills I aim to gain through a Master’s program in Applied Economics
will be instrumental in achieving these objectives.
Through my academic experiences and professional network, I have come to appreciate the
importance of research, collaboration, and a nuanced understanding of economic forces in
addressing the challenges faced by economies today. I am eager to engage with faculty,
researchers, and fellow students who share my passion for economics and public policy. By
collaborating with these individuals, I hope to further expand my understanding of finance, public
economics, and the tools needed to create effective solutions for real-world economic problems.
I am fully aware of the challenges that lie ahead, including mastering the intricacies of Mandarin,
adjusting to the cultural and economic environment in China, and navigating new academic rigor.
I am ready to embrace these challenges with resilience, humility, and a commitment to learning.
The prospect of studying in China is an exciting opportunity to broaden my intellectual horizons
and to build a strong foundation in applied economics that will serve me well in my career.
In conclusion, my goal is to equip myself with the knowledge and skills necessary to make
meaningful contributions to economic policy, finance, and public economics. By pursuing a
Master of Applied Economics in China, I believe I will be well-positioned to effect positive change
in the global economic landscape. I am confident that my academic background, passion for
economics, and commitment to excellence will enable me to thrive in this new chapter of my
academic and professional journey.
With great enthusiasm and determination, I submit my application for consideration, eager to begin
this transformative journey and contribute to the vibrant academic and economic communities in
China.
Sincerely,
MD Ahsanul Haque Jewel
