Love Lost & Concealed
Love Lost & Concealed
Then, like a sudden gust of wind that stirs the still waters
of a forgotten lake, Barika entered his world. She was
young, full of life, her spirit unencumbered by the weight
of the past or the expectations of others. Where Alex’s life
was a series of carefully laid plans, Barika lived with a
spontaneity that was both thrilling and terrifying to him.
She was like the first light of dawn, piercing through the
darkness, illuminating everything in its path. When their
eyes met for the first time, something within him shifted, a
connection formed so deep and immediate that it took his
breath away.
And so, they turned away from the love that had brought
them so much joy. They spoke harsh words, erected walls
of indifference, each pretending that they no longer
cared. It was a defense mechanism, a way to protect
themselves from the pain of what they had lost. But no
matter how much they tried to convince themselves
otherwise, the love they had shared could not be so easily
extinguished. It lived on, buried deep within their hearts,
a flame that refused to die out.
Each time they saw each other, the old feelings would
stir, their eyes betraying the emotions they tried so hard to
hide. They would exchange bitter words, but in the depths
of their hearts, they longed for the days when they could
be together without fear or guilt. They missed the way
they had made each other feel, the sense of completeness
that came from being together.
In the quiet moments, when the world was still and the
night was dark, they would think of each other. Alex
would lie awake, staring at the ceiling, memories of
Barika playing in his mind like an old, cherished film.
Barika would look out at the night sky, wondering if Alex
was thinking of her too. They both knew that their love,
though hidden and unspoken, was still there, as strong as
ever.
But they also knew that the life they had now, the
responsibilities they carried, could not be set aside. They
had made their choices, and those choices had led them
down different paths. And so, they continued on with their
lives, showing the world only their indifference, while
keeping their true feelings locked away. Yet, despite the
distance and the pretense, their love remained, a silent
testament to the bond they had once shared.
They would never admit it, not to each other and not to
themselves, but they both knew that no matter how much
time passed, no matter how much they tried to move on,
they would always carry a piece of each other in their
hearts. And in that unspoken truth, they found a
bittersweet comfort, knowing that their love, though
hidden and unfulfilled, would never truly fade.
