Ellis (2003)

1) Is there a specific ‘mental module’ for language?

There are two aproaches, 1st Chomsky: universal


grammar, inherent ability to learn language. 2nd we
have mechanisms that we coordinate to produce
Language. No specific place for language

2) How ‘automatic’ are implicit and explicit knowledge?

Implicit knowledge is stored in the memory, automatic


and fast, explicit knowledge is conscious and slow.

3) What’s a ‘dual mode’ system?

When we speak we mix rules that we create and our


experiences and memory.
