IMT 1 EXTENSION OF GEOGRAPHICAL AREA

GR 4 The insurer may extend Geographical Area – Nepal, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Maldives, Sri Lanka &
Bhutan
Premium for package Policy - Rs.500 per vehicle irrespective of vehicle
Premium other than Package Policy - Rs.100 per vehicle irrespective of vehicle
NB – Damage to vehicle/injury to TP during the Sea/Air voyage is specifically excluded.
IMT 2 VINTAGE CAR
GR 7  Applicable only to Vintage Car – Manufactured prior to 31-12-1940 and certified by Vintage and
Classic Club of India
 25% discount is allowed on OD premium AND TP
CLASSIC CAR
Manufactured after 31-12-1940 but before 31-12-1970 is considered as a Classic Car by the Vintage
and Classic Car Club of India
IMT 3 TRANSFER OF INTEREST
GR 17  Liability Cover – automatically transferred (Section 157 of MV Act)
 The Transferee to apply within 14 days from the date of transfer on prescribed format
 Package Policy – A fresh proposal form from the of transferee alongwith the consent of the
transferor is required if the transferee is not entitled for No Claim Bonus, the NCB is to be
recovered by the insurer
 By charging Rs.50 new Certificate of Insurance will be issued by the insurer.
IMT 4 CHANGE OF VEHICLE
GR 18  If the vehicle is permanently replaced by another vehicle for the same class – adjustment of
premium on pro-rata basis.
IMT 5 HIRE PURCHASE AGREEMENT
GR 19  The policy will be issued in the name of Hirer and owner’s interest shall be protected by IMT 5

IMT 6 LEASE AGREEMENT


GR 20  The policy will be issued in the name of Lessee and Lessor’s interest shall be protected by IMT 6
IMT 7 VEHCILES SUBJECT TO HYPOTHECATION AGREEMENT
GR 21  The policy will be issued in the name of Registered Owner and Pledgee’s interest shall be

IMT 8 DISCOUNT FOR MEMBERSHIP OF RECOGNIZED AUTOMOBILE ASSOCIATION (PVT CAR & TWO
GR 28 WHEELER)
 Discount applicable only to Own Damage section of Package Policy and does not cover Fire
and/or theft risks.
 Private Car – 5% of own damage premium subject to a maximum of Rs.200-00
 Motorized Two Wheeler - 5% of own damage premium subject to a maximum of Rs.50-00
IMT 9 DISCOUNT FOR VINTAGE CARS (Applicable to Private Cars)
GR 29  .Vintage Car – 25% discount on own damage premium.
 For mid-term certification pro-rata premium will be charged
IMT 10 INSTALLATION OF ANTI-THEFT DEVICE (Not applicable to Motor Trade policies)
GR 30  2.5% on OD premium subject to maximum of Rs. 500-00
 Provided that Anti-theft devices approved by Automobile Research Association of India (ARAI),
Pune and whose installation is duly certified by any of automobile Association.
 For mid-term certification pro-rata premium will be charged
IMT 11A VEHICLES LAID UP (Lay up period declared)
GR 31  LAID UP - When the vehicle is not in use for a period of 2 consecutive months or more
 Liability Policy – Will be calculated on pro-rata basis, no refund only adjusted on next renewal
 Package Policy - Will be calculated on pro-rata basis, no refund only adjusted on next renewal
 Liability of the Company during lay up period – Restricted to Fire and/or Theft Risks only.
Option of the insured – There are two option available to the insured
 Either to take the refund and adjust it on next renewal or
 May extend the policy for the period equal to the period the policy remained suspended on
account of the lay-up
 For this company will charge Rs. 15-00 as administrative cost
Provided that
 The vehicle is not undergoing repairs during lay-up as a result of a claim under the policy.
 Previous notice in writing has been given to the insurer with a recorded delivery.
 The certificate of insurance has been returned to the insurer
 The period of lay-up shall not be extended beyond 12 months from the expiry of the policy
period in which the lay-up has been continued.
IMT 11B  VEHICLES LAID UP (Lay up period not declared)

IMT 11C TERMINATION OF THE UNDECLARATED PERIOD OF VEHICLE LAID UP
IMT 12 DISCOUNT FOR SPECIFICALLY DESIGNED/MODIFIED VEHICLES FOR THE BLIND, HANDICAPP0ED AND
GR 33 MENTALLY CHALLENGED PERSONS
 50% discount may be allowed on own damage premium
 The discount is allowed only in respect if such vehicles, which have been suitably endorsed in RC
by the RTA concerned.
IMT 13 USE OF VEHICLE WITHIN INSURED’S OWN PREMISES (Applicable to all classes except as otherwise
GR 35 provided in the Tariff)
 Where public have not right to access
 Vehicle is not licensed by the authorities concerned for general road use
 No certificate of insurance or cover note which includes a Certification is permitted to be issued
in such cases.

IMT 14 USE OF VEHICLE CONFINED TO SITES (Applicable to Goods Carrying Vehicles)
GR 35  Where public have not right to access
 Vehicle is not required to be registered under the MV Act

IMT 15 PERSONAL ACCIDENT COVER TO THE INSURED OR ANY NAMED PERSON OTHER THAN PAID DRIVER
GR 36B OR CLEANER (Applicable to Private Cars including three wheeler rated as private cars and motorized
two wheelers with or without side care (not for hire or reward).
 This is a optional Personal Accident cover for persons other than owner-Driver
 This is applicable to insured or any named person other than paid driver and cleaner.
 This covers violent accidental external and visible means which independently of any other
cause shall within six calendar months of the occurrence of such injury result in
Death 100%
Loss of two limbs or sight of two eyes or one limb and sight of one eye 100%

IMT 19 COVER FOR VEHICLES IMPORTED WITHOUT CUSTOMS DUTY
GR 37  The imported vehicle belonging to Embassies, Consulates etc. where the import duty element is
not included in the IDV, hence the Section-I Own Damage is loaded by 30%
IMT 20 REDUCTION IN THE LIMIT OF LIABILITY FOR PROPERTY DAMAGE
GR 39  Motor Vehicle Acts provides company’s limited liability – 6000-00 irrespective of class

IMT 21 SPECIAL EXCLUSIONS AND COMPULSORY DEDUCTIBLE (Applicable to all Commercial Vehicles

Special Exclusions – Except in the case of Total Loss of the vehicle insured, the insurer shall not be
liable under section-I of the policy for loss of or damage to lamps tyres tubes, mudguards, bonnet side
parts, bumpers and paint work.

 Additional premium@ 15% of the total gross OD premium is charged.

IMT 24 ELECTRICAL/ELECTRONIC FITTINGS
GR 41  If the cost of electronic/electronic fittings is not included in the manufacturer’s selling price,
then these items are to be insured separately under section-I of the Package Policy.
 Premium is to be charged @ 4% on the value declared by the insured.
IMT 25 CNG/LPG KIT IN BI-FUEL SYSTEM (Own damage cover for the kit)
GR 42  Premium is to be charged @ 4% on the value declared by the insured
 Additional premium of Rs.60 is charged under TP portion
 When the value of the CNG/LPG kit is not separately available 5% extra is to be charged on OD
premium
IMT 26 RESTRICTED COVER FOR FIRE AND/OR THEFT RISKS ONLY – WHILE THE VEHICLE IS IN GARAGE AND
GR 45A NOT IN USE(Not applicable for Misc. and Special Types of vehicles ratable under Class-D and Motor
Trade Policies under Classes-E,F and G of the Commercial Vehicle Tariff)
 At the specific request of the insured that during the entire period of policy the vehicle will not
be used at all, the policy may be issued to cover the risks of Fire and/or Theft (without Liability
only cover) at the following rates
 FIRE ONLY 0.50% on IDV
 THEFT ONLY 0.50% on IDV
 FIRE & THEFT ONLY 0.75% on IDV
CONCLUSION –
 Fire also covers Fire explosion, self ignition lightning and riot strike, malicious damage terrorism,
storm, tempest, flood inundation and earthquake perils whilst the vehicle is laid up in garage
and not in use
 Theft includes Burglary, housebreaking.
IMT 27 RESTRICTED COVER FOR LIABILITY AND FIRE AND/OR THEFT (Not applicable for Misc. and Special
GR 45B Types of vehicles ratable under Class-D of the Tariff for Commercial Vehicles)
 Policy may be issued covering the vehicle for the restricted liability only with Fire and Theft Risk
 FIRE ONLY - Liability only premium + 25% of the appropriate OD premium for the vehicle
 THEFT ONLY - Liability only premium + 30% of the appropriate OD premium for the vehicle
 FIRE & THEFT ONLY Liability only prem. + 50% of the appropriate OD premium for the vehicle
CONCLUSION –

Private Car CONNECTION WITH THE OPERATION OF THE INSURED VEHICLE (For all classes of vehicles).

IMT 29 LEGAL LIABILITY TO EMPLOYEES OF THE INSURED OTHER THAN PAID DRIVER AND/OR CONDUCOR
Private Car AND/OR CLEARNER WHO MAY BE TRACELLING OR DRIVING THE EMPLOYER’S CAR (Private Cars
Tariff only/Motorised two wheelers (not for fire or reward)
CONCLUSIONS
 Additional Premium of Rs. 25-00 per employee is charged
 Total no. of such employee carried (including the paid driver, if applicable but not exceeding the
registered carrying capacity of the vehicle.
IMT 30 TRAILERS (Applicable to private cars only)
Private Car CONCLUSION
Tariff  Trailer to be used with any vehicle to be rated Private Car can not be insured separately.
 The scope of the cover should be identical of towing vehicle.
 Each trailer is required to be specifically identified by its Registration No. and separate IDV.
 Floater policy covering trailer is prohibited.
IMT 31 RELIABILITY TRIALS AND RALLIES (Private Cars and Motorised Two Wheelers)
Private Car  The policies may be extended to include use of the insured vehicle in a particular rally

 For Package policies - Rs.60/35 for the first day and Rs.30/20 for each succeeding day of the
rally respectively for Private Cars and Motorised Two Wheelers
 Liability policies only - Rs.25/15 for the first day and Rs.15/10 for each succeeding day of the
rally respectively for Private Cars and Motorised Two Wheelers
 Compulsory Deductible – It becomes Rs.5000-00/Rs.2500-00 respectively for Private Cars and
Motorised Two Wheelers
 The extension does not cover either the driver and/or the passengers carried in the vehicle or
the promoters of the event.
 This extension does not apply to speed tests, dexterity trials, hill climbs or motor racing.
However, it can be extended by charging a loading of 300% of both own damage and Liability
only premiums at a short period scales.
IMT 32 ACCIDENTS TO SOLDIERS/SAILORS/AIRMEN EMPLOYED AS DRIVER
Private Car  It provides that upon payment of additional Rs.100-00, the company indemnified the insured in
Tariff the case of there is a injury/death to the a Soldier/Airman/Sailor as employed by the insured.
IMT 33 LOSS OF ACCESSORIES (Applicable to Motorised Two Wheelers Policies only)

 The appropriate rate under CVT is charged with 25% loding.
 The insurer will indemnify the insured against his legal liability under common law and statutory
liability under the Fatal Accident Act,1855 in respect of death/bodily injury to any person not
being any employee of the insured
IMT 35 HIRED VEHICLES – DRIVEN BY HIRER (Applicable to four wheeled vehicles with carrying capacity not
Comm. exceeding 6 passengers and Motorized Two Wheelers)
Tariff Conclusion:
 The vehicle is being driven the insured in the charge of the within named insured or a driver in
the insured’s employment.
 The policy shall only be operative whilst the vehicle insured is let on hire by the insured to any
person (hereinafter called the Hirer).
 The hirer shall have to enter in contract.

IMT 36 INDEMNITY TO HIRER- - PACKAGE POLICY – Negligence of the insured or Hirer
Conclusion
 The company will indemnify any hirer of the vehicle insured against loss, damage and liability in
this policy by the negligence of the within named insured or of any employee.
IMT 37 LEGAL LIABILITY TO NON-FARE PAYING PASSENGERS OTHER THAN STATUTORY LIABILITY EXCEPT
Comm. THE FATAL ACCIDENT ACT, 1855 ( Commercial Vehicles only)
Tariff Conclusion
 The policy will indemnify the insured any employee who does not come under the purview of
Workmen’s compensation Act.
 He is not being carried for hire or reward.

 Passenger carrying vehicle – Rs.100 per passenger

IMT 37A LEGAL LIABILITY TO NON-FARE PAYING PASSENGERS WHO ARE NOT EMPLOYEES OF THE INSURED(
Comm. Commercial Vehicles only)

 This extension of cover is not permitted to be given in respect of Motor Trade Policies ratable
under sub-section E F and G of the Tariff for Commercial Vehicles.
IMT 39 LEGAL LIABILITY TO PERSONS EMPLOYED IN CONNECTION WITH THE OPERATION AND/OR
MAINTIANING AND/OR LAODING AND/OR UNLOADING OF MOTOR VEHICLE (For Goods Vehicles)
 Additional premium @ Rs.25-0 per employee
IMT 39A LEGAL LIABILITY UNDER THE WOKMEN’S COMPENSATION ACT, 1923 IN RESPECT OF THE CARRIAGE
OF MORE THAN SIX EMPLOYEES (Excluding the Driver) IN GOODS CARRYING VEHICLES.
IMT 40 LEGAL LIABILITY TO PAID AND/OR CONDUCTOR AND/OR CLEANER EMPLOYED IN CONNECTION
WITH THE OPERATION OF MOTOR VEHICLE. (For buses, taxis and motorized three/four wheeler
under commercial vehicles Tariff)
 Additional premium @ Rs.25-0 per employee
IMT 41 MOTOR TRADE POLICIES – CLASS “F” – ROAD RISKS ONLY
 For new vehicle radius will be 80 km from the insured’s address.
 The limit can be extended upto 120 kilometers upon payment of additional premium of 15%.
 Beyond 120 kms are to be rated as per the Road Transit Risks Schedule.
 From 160 to 320 kms 25% of the difference between package policy and liability only
policy premium
 Extension exceeding 320 kms 50% of the difference between package policy and liability only
policy premium

IMT 42 PRIVATE CARRIERS (Goods Carrying Commercial Vehicles only)
 This clause states that in no case the insurer will be liable for the loss if the vehicle is used for
carrying goods not belonging to the insured.
IMT 43 THEFT AND CONVERSION RISK
 Theft and conversion can be covered on additional premium of Rs. 1.5% of the IDV
 And it is applicable only when the entire vehicle has been stolen.
IMT 44 INDEMNITY TO HIRER – PACKAGE POLICY – NEGLIGENCE OF THE OWNER OR HIRER
IMT 45 INDEMNITY TO HIRER – LIABILITY ONLY POLICY – NEGLIGENCE OF THE OWNER OR HIRER
IMT 46 LEGAL LIABILITY TO PASSENGERS EXCLUDING LIABILITY FOR ACCIDENTS TO EMPLOYEES OF THE
INSURED ARISING OUT OF AND IN COURSE OF THEIR EMPLOYMENT (Applicable to
Ambulance/Hearses under Class D of Commercial Vehicles and to Motor Trade Vehicles.
IMT 47 MOBILE CRANES,DRILLING RIGS/MOBILE PLANTS/EXCAVATORS/NAVVIES/SHOVELS/GRABS/RIPPERS
 Overturning during operational is excluded from the scope of the cover.
 However it can be included on additional premium of 0.4% of IDV subject to minimum 100
IMT 48 AGRICULTURAL AND FORESTRY VEHICLE AND OTHER MIS. VEHICLES WITH TRAILERS ATTACHED –
EXTENDED COVER
 Upon additional premium Agricultural Implements such as Ploughs, Harrows and like can nbe
covered on additional premium.
 However, under Section-I of the policy, the insurer is not liable for any loss in respect of
breakage of any part of the agricultural trailer or implements caused by ground obstruction
IMT 49 EXCLUSION OF LIABILITY TO THE PUBLIC WORKING RISK (EXCEPT AS REQUIRED BY THE MOTOR
VEHICLE ACT, 1988)
 The insurer is not liable for any liability incurred by the insured out of the use of vehicle except
as provided in MV Act.
IMT 50 CINEMA FILM RECORDING AND PUBLICITY VAN
 The company is not liable for any loss caused to instrument installed at the vehicle.
IMT 51 MOBILE SHOP/CANTEEN AND MOBILE SURVERIES/DISPENSARIES
 The company is not liable for any loss caused to instrument installed at the vehicle.
 The company is also not liable for bodily injury/death or illness of any person caused due to the
use of any goods supplied by these vehicles.
IMT 52 EXCLUSION OF DAMAGE WHILE IN USE AS A TOOL OF TRADE
 The insurer is not liable for any liability incurred by the insured out of the use of tool of vehicle
except as provided in MV Act.
IMT 53 SPECIFIED ATTACHMENTS (SPECIAL TYPE VEHICLES)
 Defines IDV of attachment
IMT 54 MOBILE PLANT – INCLUSION OF LIABILITY TO THE PUBLIC WORKMING RISK WHERE TOOL OF TRADE
IS USED ONLY FOR WORK PERFORMED IN OR UPON THE VEHICLE OR TRAILER.
 The insurer is not liable for any liability arising out of explosion due to the use of vehicle except
as provided in MV Act.
IMT 55 MOBILE PLANT – INCLUSION OF LIABILITY TO THE PUBLIC WORKING RISK (ALL OTHER CASES)
 The company is also not liable for bodily injury/death or illness of any person caused due to the
subsidence, flooding or water pollution, damage to pipe lines etc. by using the Mobile plant.
IMT 56 TRAILERS (ROAD TRANSIT ONLY)
 That upon payment of additional premium Section-I & II of the policy can be extended to the
Motor Vehicle attached to the Motor Vehicle for the purpose of towing,
IMT 57 MOTORISED TWO WHEELERS (MOTOR TRADE ONLY)
 This only refers to the Standard Form of Motor Trade Policy.
IMT 58 LOAN OR HIRE OF MOTOR CARS, MOTORISED TWO WHEELERS, MOTOR VEHICLES TO CUSTOMERS
BY MOTOR DEALERS (MOTOR TRADE ONLY)
 This provides that insured can let out on loan or hire when the customer’s vehicles is/under
repair with insured.
 For this purpose, the insured will make a record of the same.
 Shall submit the statement to the insurer within one month of the expiry of each period of
insurance .
 The premium will be adjusted at the expiry of the policy.
IMT 59 PRIVATE USE OF VEHICLE BY MEMBER/DIRECTOR/EMPLOYEE OF TRHE INSURED (Motor trade only)
 On additional premium the policy can be extended to indemnify in respect of liability to public
risk whilst using the vehicle for social and pleasure purpose by
 The insured
 A member or director of the insured
 An employee of the insured
IMT 60 DEMONSTRATION – DRIVING EXTENSION (Applicable to Motor Trade Policies only)
 On payment of additional premium the policy shall operative whilst the vehicle is driven for
demonstration provided that the driver must possess valid effective driving licence and the
person driving the vehicle is not in the employment of the insured but driving the vehicle with
the permission of the insured.
IMT 61 TUITION – DRIVING EXTENSION (Applicable only to Motor Trade Policies issued on named driver
basis)
 On payment of additional premium the policy shall operative whilst the vehicle is driven for
demonstration/tuition purposes by the named driver person or the person taking tuition but
with the permission of insured.
IMT 62 DELETION OF 50% LIMITATION CLAUSE IN RESPECT OF DAMAGE TO TYRES (Applicable to Motor
Trade Road Transit Risks policies only)
 On payment of additional premium of 1% or Rs.5 per chassis/vehicle per trip should be charged.
 Provided that Manufacturer/Dealer or any other party must have insurable interest in such
chassis/vehicle.
IMT 63 RESTRICTION OF COVER TO LIABILITY RISK ONLY (Motor Trade Internal Risks Policy)
 It provides that company’s liability in case of Liability Policy is fixed for property damage
excluding damage to vehicle i.e. Rs.1.5 lacs for any one accident.
IMT 64 OPEN-AIR CAR PARKS (Motor trade Internal Risks only)
 As per tariff rates are prescribed for superficial area not exceeding 2000 sq. meters as occupied
by the insured for the purpose of Motor Trade Business.
 On additional premium the open air Car parks but outside motor trader’s premises as defined
may be covered but only 50% of the superficial area of such car parks is to be used for premium
calculation purposes.
IMT 65 WORK AWAY FROM PREMISES (Motor Trade Internal Risks only)
 Internal Risks policies may be extended to cover the liability of the insured arising out of work
away from his own premises at an additional premium of Rs.0.065% on the total wages subject
to a minimum additional premium of Rs.50-00.
