Detailed Lesson Plan in Science I

Grade Level: 1 Number of students:

I. Objectives:
At the end of the lesson, the pupils are expected to:
A. Identify and classify foods into the categories of go, glow, and grow
foods.
B. Explain the importance of each category of food and how they
contribute to overall health and well-being.
C. Plan a balanced meal that includes items from all three food
categories, demonstrating their understanding of nutritional balance.
II. Learning Content:
A. Concept: Basic Food Groups
Topic: Go, Grow and Glow foods
B. Reference: Youtube, Google
C. Materials: pictures of vegetables
D. Values: Health awareness and obeying your parents.

the Veggies"

“Chichay and the Vegies”


Chichay is a young girl who lives down
the street, her father is a farmer while
her mother is a teacher. Chichay loves
to eat junk foods, chocolates and
candies. One morning, her father
brought home some vegetables from
their farm, and her mother prepared it
for their lunch.
Mother: Oh, dear Chichay, you must eat
vegetables for you to be healthy
Chichay: But I don’t like the taste of
vegetables, it’s disgusting.
Father: Don’t be like that, vegetables
are good to your body.
But Chichay didn’t even taste the food
that her mother prepared. Instead, she
ate the candies she hides under her
pillow.
Until one day, Chichay got sick!
Chichay: I don’t like to get sick
anymore, I can’t play with my friends
outside.
Father: That’s why you need to eat
healthy foods like vegetables from our
farm! For you to have a healthy body
Mother: Now you know, the importance
of eating healthy foods.
Chichay: Yes mother, from now on, I will
eat only healthy foods.
After that day, her mother prepared a
delicious lunch, it’s a Pinakbet!
Chichay: What food is this Nanay?
Mother: it is a Pinakbet, all the
vegetables are freshly picked by your
father
Chichay: Can you tell me the name of
those vegetables?
Mother: It has a squash, sweet camote,
string beans, okra, eggplants, and
tomatoes that will give your body

Since then, Chichay started to eat
healthy foods, like vegetables, fruits
and other foods that will help her body
become healthy and strong.

GO FOODS- are foods that provides
energy, like rice, bread, corn, pasta and
potato (carbohydrates and proteins). -Yes Ma’am!

GLOW FOODS- are foods that are


packed with vitamins and minerals, like
orange, apple, broccoli, squash, tomato
and pineapple (fruits and vegetables). -GLO FOODS Ma’am!

GROW FOODS- are foods that are high


in antioxidants and usually green in -GROW FOODS Ma’am!
