4. Evaluate the definite integral ∫0 𝑥 tan−1 𝑥 𝑑𝑥(5 marks)

5. Solve the equation 3 cos 2𝜃 − 7 cos 𝜃 − 2 = 0for 0° ≤ 𝜃 ≤ 360°. (5 marks)

6. Find the equation of the circle which touches the line 3𝑥 − 4𝑦 = 3 at the point
(5, 3) and passes through the point (−2,4). (5 marks)

7. The roots of the equation 𝑥 2 + 𝑝𝑥 + 7 = 0 are ∝ and 𝛽 . Given that ∝2 + 𝛽 2 = 22,

(b) Find the points where the line 2𝑦 − 𝑥 + 5 = 0 meets the circle

15. (a) Show that the points A,B and C with position vectors 2ί + 3ĵ, 4ί + 5ĵ, 6ί + 9ĵ
respectively are the vertices of a triangle. Find the area of the triangle.

(b) Find a vector 𝑟perpendicular to the vectors 𝑠 = 5ί + 3ĵ + 𝑘 and


𝑡 = −ί + 3ĵ + 2k.
Hence, find the equation of a plane passing through the point 𝐴(5, −1, −2) and
parallel to 𝑠 and 𝑡. Find the angle between the plane and the line
