CAMBRIDGE EARLY YEARS- PRESENTER’S NOTES

SLIDE 2-Cambridge works with schools worldwide to build an education that shapes
knowledge, understanding and skills.

Together with Cambridge we give learners the confidence they need to thrive and make
a positive impact in a changing world.

As part of the University of Cambridge, Cambridge offers a globally trusted and flexible
framework for education from age 3 to 19, informed by research, experience, and
listening to educators like us.

With recognised qualifications, high-quality resources, comprehensive support and

valuable insights, they help schools prepare every student for the opportunities and
challenges ahead.

Together with Cambridge, we help your child be ready for the world.

SLIDE 3-Cambridge qualifications are recognised and valued worldwide

Cambridge qualifications prepare and equip learners with the skills they need to thrive
at university and beyond.

The world’s best higher education institutions recognise Cambridge qualifications and
value the critical thinking skills, independent research abilities and deep subject
knowledge that Cambridge learners bring and help them to succeed at university.

This means that you can be confident that, regardless of where your child wants to
study, their qualifications from Cambridge will be valued and recognised locally and
globally.

From the world’s top-ranked universities to local higher education institutions,

Cambridge qualifications open doors to a world of opportunities for your child, helping to
prepare them with the skills they need to thrive at university and beyond.

SLIDE 4-From the world’s top-ranked universities to local higher education institutions,
Cambridge qualifications open doors to a world of opportunities for your child, helping to
prepare them with the skills they need to thrive at university and beyond.

Cambridge works with universities and colleges in every part of the world to make sure
that they understand and accept their qualifications.

For example:

More than 2220 universities in over 90 countries formally recognise Cambridge

qualifications, with many more accepting their qualifications on application.
CAMBRIDGE EARLY YEARS- PRESENTER’S NOTES

All UK universities accept Cambridge qualifications, as well as nearly 1000 universities

in the US (including all Ivy League and Ivy Plus universities), and leading universities in
Australia, Canada, Germany and beyond.

Cambridge has also set up and works closely with a Strategic Higher Education
Advisory Council, made up of senior admissions staff at leading HE institutions in the
US, Canada, Australia, Japan and the UK which informs their work on university
recognition.

SLIDE 5-A flexible programme, tailored to meet your child’s needs

With the flexibility and breadth of the Cambridge curriculum, high-quality teaching and
learning resources and assessments, we can build an education that meets the needs
of your child within our culture and context, ultimately helping your child to reach their
potential and thrive.

Flexible, meaningful assessment

Cambridge offers a flexible assessment structure that helps us maximise time for
teaching and learning. As an approved Cambridge school, we have access to a range
of fair, valid and reliable assessments that measure student progress and give a true
picture of your child’s ability.

Cambridge assessments assess what is of value: deep subject knowledge, conceptual

understanding and higher-level thinking skills. Cambridge makes sure that their
assessments and marking processes are fair and accessible for learners who do not
have English as a first language, and those with special educational needs and
disabilities.

Supporting teaching development

Evidence shows that supporting our teachers in their development and encouraging
reflective practice leads to improved outcomes for your child.

Working with Cambridge means that we can support the professional development
needs of our teachers and take advantage of the training opportunities and
qualifications for teachers at every stage of their career.

SLIDE 7-Cambridge sets the global standard for international education

Cambridge is the world’s largest provider of international education for ages 3 to 19 and
part of the University of Cambridge. They have over 160 years’ experience in delivering
fair, valid and reliable assessments that offer a global, recognised performance
standard for international education.

With their globally trusted framework and fully aligned offer, they help over 10 000
schools in 160 countries offer a well-rounded education to the highest standard.
CAMBRIDGE EARLY YEARS- PRESENTER’S NOTES

They work closely in partnership with schools, subject experts and the world-leading
teaching and research departments of the University, to make sure that their aligned
offer across curriculum, assessment and resources reflects best practice in teaching
and learning.

As a not-for-profit organisation, they devote their resources to helping every Cambridge

learner develop the knowledge, understanding and skills they need to thrive in a
changing world.

For example:

They are the only international exam board that is wholly owned by a world-leading
university.

Cambridge University Press & Assessment is home to the largest research capability of
its kind, specialising in curriculum and assessment.

SLIDE 8-And finally, as a Cambridge school, we are part of a community of experts

With the Cambridge Pathway, your child is joining a global community of learners from
more than 10 000 schools in over 160 countries.

By working with our wider community, our teachers can connect with other schools to
share best practice that can help to shape your child’s knowledge, understanding and
skills.

For example:

Every year, nearly a million learners from 10 000 schools in 160 countries prepare for
their future with an international education from Cambridge.

More than 550 educators belong to the Cambridge Panel – an online space where they
can exchange ideas and experiences, and give feedback to Cambridge to help when
developing programmes and resources.

Cambridge syllabuses and curricula are regularly reviewed in consultation with schools
and universities worldwide.

SLIDE 9-Learning with lasting impact

Cambridge recognises that meaningful education is more than just building subject
knowledge and conceptual understanding. To thrive in life, learners must also develop a
broad range of skills, values, attitudes and behaviours.
CAMBRIDGE EARLY YEARS- PRESENTER’S NOTES

Cambridge programmes, assessments and resources help schools develop reflective

and innovative learners with the confidence to embrace new information, ideas and
challenges.

Responsible and respectful of others, they are engaged intellectually and socially –
ready to make a positive impact.

With these attributes, Cambridge learners are ready for the world.

For example:

Through their programmes and resources, Cambridge supports schools to develop

students who are confident, responsible, reflective, innovative and engaged – these are
the attributes of Cambridge learners.

They have published a guide called Developing the Cambridge Learner Attributes to
support schools like us in developing life skills as well as academic skills.

Their syllabuses are structured so that students attain both practical skills and
theoretical knowledge. And they design their assessments so that they assess critical
thinking and require students to demonstrate understanding and knowledge of a
subject.

Cambridge provides support materials to schools which embed the development of the
learner attributes.

SLIDE 10-Your child’s needs as a learner are at the heart of Cambridge’s approach to
education. Working together with Cambridge, we can help your child to thrive inside and
outside the classroom and become:

confident in working with information and ideas – their own and those of others

responsible for themselves, responsive to and respectful of others

reflective and developing their ability to learn

innovative and equipped for new and future challenges

engaged intellectually and socially, ready to make a difference.

These attributes underpin everything Cambridge does, such as when developing

curricula and syllabuses.

For example:

Cambridge IGCSE Mathematics has been designed to encourage learners to be:

confident in using mathematical language and techniques to ask questions, explore

ideas and communicate
CAMBRIDGE EARLY YEARS- PRESENTER’S NOTES

responsible, by taking ownership of their learning, and applying their mathematical

knowledge and skills so that they can reason, problem solve and work collaboratively.

SLIDE 12- The Cambridge Pathway helps learners be ready for the world, offering five
stages of education from age 3 to 19, leading seamlessly from early years to pre-
university.

Each stage builds on the previous one and further shapes learners’ knowledge,
understanding and skills.

As a Cambridge school, we can select which stages to offer and choose from a broad
range of subjects.

This means we can design a curriculum that works within our local context and ethos,
offering a programme of study that will not only meet your child’s individual needs, but
excite them.

Every stage – Cambridge Early Years, Primary, Lower Secondary, Upper Secondary
and Advanced – helps your child to thrive in and outside the classroom, and at
university and beyond.
