Life of Prophet Muhammad Before His Call to Prophethood

Prophet Muhammad ‫ ﷺ‬was born in 570 CE in Makkah into the noble Quraysh tribe. He was orphaned
early in life, with his father dying before his birth and his mother passing away when he was six years
old. Raised by his grandfather and later his uncle, Abu Talib, Muhammad grew up under their care.

As a young man, he earned the title Al-Amin (The Trustworthy) due to his honesty and integrity. He
worked as a merchant and was known for his fairness in trade. At 25, he married Khadijah bint
Khuwaylid, a wealthy merchant widow, who recognized his upright character. Muhammad often
meditated in the Cave of Hira, reflecting on the moral decline of society. This contemplative habit
foreshadowed his role as the final prophet.

How to Perform At-Tayammum

At-Tayammum is dry ablution performed when water is unavailable or its use is harmful. Here's how:

Intention (Niyyah): Make the intention to perform tayammum for purification.

Saying Bismillah: Begin with “Bismillah.”

Striking the Earth: Strike both palms lightly on a clean surface (e.g., sand, stone).

Wiping the Face: Wipe your face with your palms.

Wiping the Hands: Wipe your hands up to the wrists.

Tayammum substitutes for wudu but becomes invalid once water is available or the excuse for avoiding
it is resolved.
