operation on air or nitrogen. This is to allow mechanical testing of the
compressor on site.
Replace ‘purchaser’ with ‘Client and purchaser’.
2.1.19 [New]

compressor train shall be capable of withstanding momentary high torque
overloads equal to four times motor nameplate rating. The suitability of this
rating shall be confirmed by Purchaser after final electrical system
characteristics are defined.
In addition, for synchronous motor drives, the compressor train shall also be

housing to allow fitting of an earthing brush, should this become necessary. A
design and drawing shall be provided for such an arrangement.
Where self acting dry gas seals are technically not feasible for the proposed
duty, the Vendor, in consultation with the seal manufacturer, shall design the
system with a view to converting the arrangement, at a future date, to accept
dry gas seal system without the need for any site machining.
Where both Dry Gas Sealing and conventional Seal Oil Sealing
arrangements are feasible, the Vendor, as Bidder, shall provide Option Prices
for both arrangements. Together with the option prices, Bidder shall state his
recommended Seal arrangement, clearly stating the advantages and benefits
of his preferred arrangement.
