UX Hackathon Prompt

Rendezvous, IIT Delhi | Round 1: October 6, 2024 | Round 2: October 8, 2024

Overview:

Welcome to the UX Hackathon at Rendezvous! This year, we challenge you to design

innovative UI/UX solutions addressing real-world problems. Participants will choose one of the
three provided topics and develop a comprehensive app that offers a unique feature.

Chosen Topics:

1. Eco-Conscious Lifestyle Tracker

Problem Statement: People are increasingly aware of the need to adopt eco-friendly habits,
but they struggle to understand and track the environmental impact of their day-to-day choices.
There is no consolidated platform that educates, motivates, and helps users make more
sustainable lifestyle decisions. How can we create a tool that promotes and tracks
eco-conscious behavior, helping users reduce their environmental footprint?

Your Challenge: Create a user-friendly app that allows individuals to track their daily activities
and understand their carbon footprint. Incorporate features that suggest eco-friendly alternatives
and engage users through challenges and rewards for sustainable practices.

2. Improving Financial Literacy for Young Adults

Problem Statement: Many young adults struggle with understanding financial concepts such
as budgeting, savings, and investments, leading to poor financial decisions and long-term
financial instability. Existing resources are either overly complex or lack engagement. How can
we create a solution that simplifies financial literacy and provides interactive tools to help young
adults build healthy financial habits?

Your Challenge: Design an interactive app that simplifies financial literacy for young adults.
Focus on creating engaging learning modules, budget trackers, and investment calculators,
while ensuring that the content is relatable and easy to understand.
3. AI-Powered Personalized Learning for Students

Problem Statement: Students have diverse learning needs and pace, yet conventional
educational systems often provide a one-size-fits-all approach. There is a lack of personalized
learning solutions that adapt to individual learning styles and provide effective support for
continuous improvement. How can we design a solution that leverages AI to provide
personalized learning paths, real-time feedback, and engagement strategies for students?

Your Challenge: Develop an AI-driven platform that offers personalized study plans tailored to
each student’s learning style and pace. Include features such as adaptive assessments,
real-time feedback, and visualization tools to track learning progress and areas for
improvement.

Hackathon Structure:

● Round 1 (October 6, 2024): A 6-hour long hackathon where participants will brainstorm,
design, and prototype their app solutions.
● Round 2 (October 8, 2024): Top 10 shortlisted teams will present their solutions in front
of a panel of judges.

Evaluation Criteria for Round 1:

Participants will be evaluated based on the following key criteria, to compete in Round 2:

1. Process Documentation:
○ Showcase the complete design process in your presentation. This includes:
■ Research: Understanding user needs and market trends.
■ Ideation: Generating innovative ideas and solutions.
■ Competitor Analysis: Evaluating existing solutions in the market.
■ User Persona: Defining the target audience.
■ Wireframing: Creating low-fidelity designs to outline the app's structure.
■ Mockup: Developing high-fidelity designs showcasing the final user
interface.
2. Unique Feature:
○ Identify and highlight at least one unique feature in your app that addresses the
chosen problem statement. Clearly explain how user research informed the
development of this feature and how it enhances the overall user experience.

Submission Requirements:
Participants must submit a PowerPoint presentation that includes:

● A clear explanation of the chosen topic and problem statement.

● Detailed documentation of the design process (as outlined above).
● A link to the Figma prototype showcasing your app’s design and functionality.

Important Notes:

● Be creative and innovative in your solutions!

● Ensure that your app is user-friendly and addresses the problem effectively.
● Prepare to defend your design choices during the final presentation round.
