guess the movie or teleserye that I
am going to tell you. The first one

with the Filipino superheroes and
that you are still watching
teleseryes. Now do you think
those characters really exist in real
life?

They do not exist in real life

because people do not have
superpowers.

Mermaids are not real.

There is no such thing as

Those are shows that features real
life stories of artists, popular people
and ordinary humans like us.

teleseryes are fantasy, these two
shows are reality because the
events shown happens in real life
setting.

our topic?

Our topic for today is all about

FANTASY AND REALITY.

Our topic today is all about
distinguishing fantasy and reality.

At the end of the discussion, you

should be able to;

C. Presenting Examples It is important to distinguish the

distinguishing reality from fantasy

reader.
Now, we will have our story time!
Before we proceed, let’s unlock
some difficult words that we will
encounter when reading a story.

PANDEMIC An occurrence in which a disease

spreads very quickly and affects a

protocols because it is designed

I will read a story, and then I am

going to ask some of you to read
it afterwards. And I want you to
answer the questions afterwards.
Dodong’s Dream
In Barangay Jinalinan, there live
Dodong, who is a disobedient child.
During this pandemic time, he does
not listen to his parent’s advice to
follow the safety measures and
precautions such as washing hands
after playing outside. He also
refuses to eat fruits and vegetables.
Instead, he is fond of eating junk
foods and unhealthy foods.

One peaceful night, he dreamed of

a monster named Covido. It was a
virus that could harm a person
whom he touched and talked with.
 “Oh, please don’t come near me. I
promise I will be a good child and I
will obey my parents.” Dodong was
trembling and crying out of
nervousness. He was searching for
the alcohol to let the monster away
from him. Unluckily, he could not
find the alcohol or sanitizer. Covido
was coming near him trying to
reach and hug him.

Suddenly, when Dodong opened

his eyes and wiped his sweat in his
forehead, he just realized that he
was just dreaming. This time, he
did the sign of the cross and prayed.
He thanked God for keeping him
and his family safe during this
pandemic. Then, he promised that
he will follow his parent's advice in
observing and following the
protocol to stop the spreading of
COVID 19.

The story is very significant to the

situation we are experiencing
right now. And so I want you to
answer the following questions.
1.What is the title of the story you
have read?
Its Dodong’s Dream

2. Who are the characters in the

story?
Dodong and Covido.

3. Do you really think that the

story happens in real life?
Why/why not? (Answers to the
sentences will vary) It does happen in real life because
virus is real.

No it won’t happen in real life

because Covido is a virus and it
cannot be see.

I am glad that you know well how

to explain your stand. The story
however is FANTASY because it
will not happen in real-life. Why?
Because we cannot see virus and
that the story circulates only in a
DREAM.
 But what is the difference
between FANTASY and
REALITY?

A Reality refers to a situation that

may happen in real life. Some of
the examples of reality are;

1. Today’s crisis that affects the

people is the COVID 19.

2. If you study your lessons very

carefully, you will surely pass the
exam.

The sample sentences above show

reality because they can actually
happen in real life setting. Can
site an example of reality? The dog barks at me.

I have a loving family.

The next one that we are going to
discuss is fantasy. What is
fantasy? Fantasy refers to any situation that
is magical or a make-believe that
could not happen in real life.
Examples of fantasy are;

1. I can fly using my new pair of

shoes.
2. Karyo strongly believes that
COVID 19 will be gone if he will
blow it away.

Can you give me an example of

fantasy? My mother can fly.

The fairy godmother gave me a gift

The sentences I stated and the
statement you said are called
fantasy because those are events
that is impossible to happen and it
is just an imagination.

D. Discussing New Now, I want you to distinguish

Monsters do not exist that’s why
no. 2 and 5 statement is fantasy.
The third statement is reality
because we do pray to God and
lastly there are also children who
loves eating unhealthy foods.

FANTASY
We, humans don’t grow snake on
their heads.

That is Valentina, she is the

antagonist in the the teleserye
Darna, it is therefore fantasy
because humans do have hair and
not snakes on head.

REALITY
It shows the life of soldiers during
war.

It's an image of war which is

happening between Ukraine and
Russia, it is real. And so we must
pray for them and that may peace
be all-over the earth.

I am glad that you now know how

to make use of wise judgement in
distinguishing fantasy from
reality.
