III. COLLEGE VISION and MISSION
We, the College of Arts and Sciences-Teacher Education-Information Technology (CASTEIT) of Saint Louis College of the City of San Fernando, La Union, commit to
foster Christian education that enhances total human formation and development responsive to the demands of the changing times by empowering the youth with the CICM
Missionary spirit through excellent instruction, relevant researches, and sustainable extension programs.
IV. PROGRAM LEARNING OUTCOMES:
The General Education Program introduces the students to a breadth of knowledge that complements the depth provided in a completed degree program. It provides
the foundation for students to be able to live productive lives, to be global citizens, to appreciate aesthetic values, and to engage in life-long learning in a continually
changing world. It includes foundation courses that provide the basis for excellence and success in all courses that allow them to explore how learning is integrated across
the arts and humanities, behavioral and social sciences, and natural sciences.
After finishing the course, the graduates should be able to:
1. Apply foundational knowledge and practical skills in various learning outcomes;
2. Communicate effectively in oral and written forms using varied medium through critical and analytical thinking;
3. Exhibit scientific process skills in dealing with various learning tasks in their chosen field of specialization;
4. Employ numerical knowledge and skills in solving multi-disciplinary problems;
5. Demonstrate knowledge in and skills in wellness in their respective fields of specialization;
6. Analyze events and situations related to oneself and their respective fields;
7. Perform the different scope (music, visual, dance and literature) of arts capturing social issues;

As mandated by Republic Act 1425, this course covers the life and works of Dr. Jose Rizal. A major focus of discussion would be Jose Rizal’s life and works as they relate
to the socio-political situation of the Philippines during Rizal’s time and its implication to the present time. It traces Rizal’s ideals, concept of education and nationalism as
embodied in his works, particularly the Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo.
XIII.COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES:
At the end of the course, the students should be able to:
a. determine the usefulness of the Rizal course through the important provisions of RA 1425 and Rizal’s notable experiences;
b. examine the economic, socio-cultural and political structures during the 19th century Philippines as a factor in making Jose Rizal as Philippine hero;
c. analyze the life of Rizal in relation to his family, mentors, lovers, friends and people he encountered into his travels, professional life until his arrest and exile in Dapitan;
d. evaluate the present Philippine situation through the scenarios mentioned in the Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo and other literary works of Rizal as a source of
patriotism and nationalism.
e. develop recommendations or solutions to contemporary issues based on their understanding of root causes and their anticipation of future scenarios.
