“Before we start with our lesson for today, let
me remind you with our class agreements.”
“First, what will you do if the teacher is discussing
in front of the class?”
Sophia: (Raising hand)
“Yes, Sophia?”
“Sophia: Listen carefully, Ma’am.”
“Very Good, Sophia!
Second what will you do if you are going to
answer a question?”
Farhan: (Raising hand)

“Now, I want you to look around, can you see things
that move on its own?”
Sharifa: (Raising hand)
Yes, Sharifa?
Sharifa: “A lizard ma’am.”

How about things that cannot move?
Look at this toys,
Does it laugh? Eat and move on its own?
All: “No ma’am”
“Yes! Toys do not laugh, eat and move on its own.”
“How about you?
Do you laugh, and can you eat and move on your
own?”
All: “Yes ma’am we can”
“Yes that’s right, but toys cannot!”
“Our lesson for this morning is about living things
and non-living things. In this lesson, we will be able
to:
“Differentiate between living and non-living things,
Identify the characteristics of living things,
Appreciate the importance of livings, and non-living
things and actively perform the activities given by the
teacher.
C. Analysis
“Now, I will show you some pictures and we will
describe it together. Okay? Are you ready?”
All: “Yes ma’am we are!”
“Look at this picture.”
“Let us describe Ummi and Abe.
Can your Ummi and Abe talk, move. Do they need
food? Were they also baby before they grew into
adult?”
All: Yes ma”am!”
“Yes! That is right!”
“How about this one.”
All: “Plants ma’am”
“Okay, do plants move and talk?
No. Do they grow? Yes! If plants grow, does that
mean they need food?”
“Plants do not eat but they make their own food
with sunlight, water and air. They use these food
inorder to grow strong and healthy!”
“The things we describe earlier are living things.
That includes you and me.”
“Living things can breath, eat, grow, reproduce
and move except for plants, or few animals. In order
for living things to do these, they have to be provided
by the basic needs such as food, water, air, sunlight
and shelter. But some living things such as plants
cannot move and talk or make their own sound.
However, they can grow and reproduce. Animals like
dogs and cats cannot talk but they do make their own
sound.”
“They also have senses like sight, hearing, taste,
touch and smell but they also need to be provided by
basic needs. We humans are also a living thing. We
breath, eat, talk, grow and reproduce.”
"Now, this time, let us look at these pictures and
describe them.”
All: “blackboard, bag and car”
“Yes, A blackboard, A bag and A car. Do these things
move on their own?”
All: “No ma’am they cannot move on their own.”
“Yes, that is right. Do they also need food, water, air,
sunlight and shelter? Do they grow up and talk?
All: “No”
“Yes, that is all correct! And we call these things a
non-living things. Unlike living things, non-living
things cannot move unless a person holds them and let
them move. Non-living things do not need food,
water, air and shelter to grow up and lastly, they do
not breath and talk.
D. Activity
“Now class, let us have a game called a “Sorting
Game” I want you to group yourselves into 2. Each
group will be given pictures. And sort it into two:
Living and Non-living things. You can paste your
answer inside the chart given. The first group to
answer correctly will be the winner and will be
rewarded. Children, are you all ready?”
All: “Yes ma’am we are!”

E. Abstraction
“Now class, what are the characteristics of a living
thing?”
Zayn: “I, ma’am.”
“Yes Zayn.”
Zayn: “ The characteristics of a living thing is that they
can move, breath, talk, eat and think.
“Correct! Good job Zayn. A living thing can move,
talk, eat, and breath. We humans are living thing but
what makes us different from other living things is
our ability to think. This is what makes us capable of
providing the needs of other living things.”
“Now who can give me an example of a living
thing?”
Sharif: “I ma’am.”
“Yes Sharif?”
Sharif: “A flower ma’am”
“Correct! A flower is an example of a living thing.
Now, it seems that you already understand our lesson.
Let us proceed to evaluation”
All: “blackboard, bag and car”
All: “No ma’am they cannot move on their own.”
All: “No”
All: “No ma’am.”
All: “No ma’am.”
All: “We are ready ma’am.”
