1. 1. OBJECTIVE:
1.1 To provide a defined procedure for calibration, operation, cleaning and maintenance of
Conductivity meter (s).
2. SCOPE:
2.1 To provide a defined procedure for calibration, operation, cleaning and maintenance of
Conductivity meter (s) found in Eva Cosmetics.

3. RESPONSIBILITY:
3.1. QC lab Analysts: calibrate, operate ,clean and maintain the instrument .
3.2. Q.C Supervisor: supervise analysts in all these functions.
3.3 Q.C Manger: approved processes
4. DEFINITIONS :
4.1. Calibration : the set operations that establish under specified conditions ,the relationship
between values indicated by an instrument and values of reference standard.
4.2. Maintenance: Actions necessary for retaining or restoring a piece of equipment, machine,
or system to the specified operable condition to achieve its maximum useful life.
4.3. Cleaning : is the process of removing unwanted substances, such as dirt, infectious agents,
and other impurities, from an object or environment
4.4. Verification: provision of objective evidence that a given item fulfills specified
requirements
5. FORMS USED:
5.1. Work Card of operation and cleaning Conductivity meter (QC-F-092).
5.2. Format of Daily Verification of Conductivity Meter (QC-F-093)
6. PROCEDURES:
6.1. Verification:
6.1. Place the meter on a flat surface and protect it from intense heat.
6.2. Connect the device to the electricity power supply
6.3. Ensure that the instrument is clean.
6.4. Adjust Temperature of the solution to 25 ⁰C.
6.5. Open the instrument by press <ON/OFF> key.
6.6. Calibrate the conductmeter as follow (Determining the cell constant).
6.7. Immerse the electrode in potassium chloride solution.
6.8. Press <CAL> repeatedly until CELL is displayed.

6.9.Adjust ( by using ↓ or ↑ buttons )Cell constant to reach conductivity of potassium chloride
solution to 84 µs/cm .
6.10. Press <CFM> to confirm the selection of CELL.
6.11. The meter stores the cell constant automatically. After this the meter switches to the
measuring mode.
6.12. Rinse the measuring electrode with purified water several times.
6.13 it is possible to set the cell constant value directly , without following the calibration
procedure. To set the cell constant enter the setup mode and select the (cell) item
6.14 Record the verification process in Format of Daily Verification of Conductivity Meter (QC-
F-093)
6.3. Operation:
6.3.1. Ensure that the instrument is clean & free from dust.
6.3.2. Ensure that the plug is connected to the mains.
6.3.3. Press power ‘ ON/OFF ‘ switch.
6.3.4. Ensure that the meter is calibrated and verified.
6.3.5. Ensure that the electrode is washed with purified water.
6.3.6. Dry the glass electrode bulb using a nice filter or tissue paper..
6.3.7. Immerse the measuring electrode into the test sample.
6.3.8. press <CFM> key to start the measurement with stability control. The [AR] display
indicator flashes until a stable value is measure then the flashes stop. This is the conductivity
value of the sample.
6.3.9 Remove the measuring electrode from the sample then rinse it with purified water.
6.3.10. Wipe the measuring electrode with a soft tissue.
6.3.11. Hang the electrode free in air in the holder.
6.3.12 Record the readings in the format of Work Card of operation and cleaning Conductivity
meter (QC-F-092).
6.3. Cleaning:
6.3.1. occasionally wipe the outside of the meter with a damp ,lint -free cloth .
6.3.2. disinfect the housing with isopropanol as required (Not use acetone)

6.4. Maintenance:
(After measurements, rinse the probe with clean water.
If a more through cleaning is required, remove the probe sleeve and clean the probe with a
cloth.)
